Wonderful island and the Tanna volcano was amazing. We had some bad weather but were able to see everything because we stayed 7 nights on Tanna. The weather is a variable you need to take into account when going to Tanna especially when seeing the volcano. There is not much to do on rainy days. Even the spa is not available when is is wet and windy. It would generally be good if the spa treatments were available in the late afternoons or evenings.
Staff very accommodating, rooms clean, meals good and priced accordingly.
Over all great value
peaceful and relaxing , volacano is amazing , local snorkerlling excellent
The food was beautiful. It is reasonably priced and very tasty.. i did not have a bad meal while staying there! The room was clean, and the staff amazing. The Resort is in the most amazing location and the view is just perfect!
Beautiful location on the coast of Tana Island. Tana is still relatively untouched and White Grass is a great base to explore this magical island. Lovely service, good food and a view to die for. Highly recommended!
We were made to feel welcome at the resort from the moment we arrived. The owners/managers and the staff were always friendly, helpful and available. The grounds were lovely and well-maintained. Our bure was on the small side and didn't have much in the way of shelving/storage space, but it was clean and comfortable and had a beautiful outlook over the pool and the sea. The food was excellent and we enjoyed dining at our table by the window, looking out over the ocean. Our trip to the volcano (our main reason for going to Tanna) was amazing. We probably wouldn't have wanted to stay any longer there because the snorkelling is limited and, once we had done the volcano and the village excursion, there wasn't a lot else to do there. But we thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay.
what a relaxing place to stay beautiful surroundings
Unlike most visitors who came for one or two nights we stayed for four.
Most who visit Tanna, do so to see the volcano. This is absolutely amazing. I would recommend to any serious photographers to take along a tripod to catch the movement of the magma as it comes flying out with each explosion.
We also spent time snorkelling in the blue holes that are fairly close nearby, just a short walk north of the resort. Generally, we had these to ourselves and were able to enjoy the fish and coral.
Another trip that we made was up to the Blue Cave, which really has to be seen to be believed. Again it is a blue hole (vertical cave) with an opening above the ground. However, we accessed it by the water, where we had to swim about a metre (loengthwise) underwater (depth of about 30 cm) into this wonderful space with ethereal light streaming into it from the opening above.
As the resort is near the open ocean, kayaking is only possible with a guide and is tide dependent. Snorkelling is best at low tide. Internet access is not worthwhile as it is somewhat intermittent. I didn't check my phone availability as I didn't want to be interrupted from the relaxing holiday. However, there is a mobile phone tower nearby.
The owners and staff were friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay there.
Staff were very friendly, the tours and tour guides from resort were fantastic. Rooms were simple but of good quality. Dining room was lovely with killer views, food was good but menu was very limited.
The best accommodation on Tanna. Small number of units, simple and well maintained. Good food and service. They arrange a variety of activities and tours. Short distance from the airport. Very relaxing.
Very welcoming and nothing too much trouble. All the activities we had in our package were fantastic. The volcano was amazing !!!
Great value for money on such an island far away from anywhere.
The resort is beautiful, overlooking the ocean surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. The food was also of a high standard.
We had a chance to get down to Blue Hole 2. We had issues finding it at first (despite the signs), although some friendly local kids helped us to locate it, and after that it was an amazing experience. Probably the best Coral Reef snorkelling I have seen, simply because it was so untouched with no dead coral. We stayed out a bit too long and got horribly sunburnt though!
I also have to give praise to the owners of the resort. Apart from them being friendly and down to the earth, we arrived very early around 9am and were prepared to sit around for a few hours until we could check in. However we were given a room shortly after, which was service I hadn't seen before (or seen since). Our flight was also not until later in the day, and we also allowed a late check out.
If you head to Tanna and have the $$$ I would highly recommend this resort!
Our four days on Tanna Island was made all the more enjoyable by staying at this Resort. It had everything on hand for an Island Bure stay.(if you are looking for a 5 star air conditioned hotel then this is not for you; stay in Port Vila) The Resort is designed purposefully to give an ''Island'' feel and achieves this brilliantly. The Managers were great and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. All tours were conducted brilliantly, especially to the awe inspiring Yasur Volcano. Everything is a little expensive, but what else could be expected on such a remote island. Altogether a wonderful experience.
