Breakfast buffet was great, unfortunately for fussy eaters the rest of the menus were not good. Not enough plain choices.
Staff were amazing, resort just beautiful. Had a fantastic trip for our first Thailand experience.
Exceeded our expectations what a wonderful country to visit. The resort amazing & the people are beautiful
Brilliant location for the more chilled side of Thailand. The resort provides zones for specific groups, quiet adults only areas a and fun areas for families of all ages. Plenty of shopping and yummy cheap quality local restaurants near by, without the hustle and bustle.
Great location for day trips in southern region of Thailand
From the time we arrived the service was friendly and welcoming. We were on our annual girls trip sharing a pool access Seaside Junior Suite twin share. The room was huge with lots of storage space and so comfortable. I would highly recommend this room. You can hear and see the ocean and the sunsets from your room or at the beach are to die for. There is an adults only pool which we went to daily. Breakfasts are loud but lovely. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend doing the yoga classes.
The food, the pools, the service was all perfect for a family holiday.
The kids all had a blast.
We chose the ground floor rooms with swimming pool access. This was the best choice for us and the kids. The facilities were great, the food was amazing at the hotel and at the restaurants in Khao Lak.
Great to have choice of family pool, beach area pool and the pool accessed from the room.
Easy access to the main street shops, markets and restaurants with 100 THB cost for a Tuk Tuk from hotel reception to the main street. The kids loved riding around Khao Lak in a Tuk Tuk especially the pimped up ones with lights and music. Our favourite restaurant was Khao Lak Country and the Water Market Dinner Buffet at The Sands was excellent.
The spa was fantastic and reasonably priced, spas on the street were much cheaper but the hotel spa was more comfortable and service & facilities provided a lush experience.
The hotel staff were so accommodating and nothing was any trouble.
The grounds were landscaped with walking paths and lush grass areas and beach access. Lounge chairs lined up along the grassed area facing the ocean providing a wonderful view and a relaxing place to read or just soak up the sun under a palm tree.
The Hotel APP made it easy to order room service, special requests from housekeeping or just to find out what's happening at the resort.
We did the beginners Thai cooking class and that was a great experience with Loh. Learned how to make the vegetable fried rice and a coconut milk soup that was very tasty.
We visited the Elephant Sanctuary at Khao Lak which was only 20 minutes drive from the hotel. It was a lovely experience to interact with the elephants, feed and pat them. We didn't bath the elephants as we heard that most people became sick from the dirty water. Just get a Tuk Tuk there and pay for food by the bucket at 100BHT per bucket of food. Don't waste money on a tour.
We also spent a day at Andamanda Water Park. It's 90 min drive from the hotel and a great day out. Hire a driver and they will drop you off and pick you up and take you back to the hotel for an agreed price.
The only issue I had was that the TV in my room didn't have reception for a few days and the hotel was very slow to fix the problem. Mostly a problem for me as I struggle to sleep without a TV.
Khao Lak is 90 min drive from Phuket airport but a lovely quiet area that's great for a relaxing Thai holiday for everyone. There are bars and nightspots if that's your thing too.
A wonderful 10 day stay at The Sands and would love to return next year!
The Sands never disappoints. Great value for money when purchasing a package. Polite, well trained staff who always smile. Such an easy family holiday!
We had the family swim our room which was amazing and great for our kids aged 4 & 8 years. We had all inclusive which we found was a waste of money and next time would not go all inclusive as drinks and food was limited to the inclusive package. Food in the resort was ok we preferred the Thai experience dining around the town of Khao Lak, so we didn't get the most out of our inclusive package. Resort is in a great location, and views were magnificent. Some staff were very friendly and others weren't. We went at the start of May which was a perfect time to go as it's the beginning of their wet season so was very quiet around the resort and town.
Beautiful resort, perfect location & lovely staff- we had the best time!! Will be back :)
Absolutely fantastic resort for the whole family. Welcoming staff who would always make your stay better each day. Can't wait to go back again. Would recommend this resort to anyone to stay at.
Resort is perfect for families looking to keep kids active and happy ... the swim out pool rooms are great and the waterslide , Splash water park and lazy river ride are lots of fun.
.
The Sands was everything a family would wish for in a holiday. My only comment is that the food and drinks were relatively expensive and the flavours were dulled down. Otherwise the service by the staff was exceptional and I would highly recommend a stay here for all my family and friends!
The location facilities and service of the resort was exceptional.
The use of the app to order and make requests was a fantastic initiative we used constantly.
The staff were so lovely kind and accomodating even when they were treated badly by guests which unfortunately we saw a few times occur.
The local shops and food was also a highlight if the holiday
Such an amazing and clean and fun resort.
Also didn't mind the daily massages by the beach
The sands is a beautiful resort, plenty of water activities, and kids club to keep the kids entertained. Close to the main road for shopping etc, but far enough back that it's quiet, resort does shuttle to bang niang markets for 150 baht (about $6.50) aus.
Would stay again.
We cannot speak highly enough of this resort! The service was above and beyond, buffet breakfast was top notch, location was fabulous - we just loved it all. Special shout out to Jim the tour guy, he was SO friendly and kind and super knowledgeable which made it easy for us to select the tours and activities. The bathrooms could do with a bit of a refresh but other than that, absolutely outstanding!
Great facilities and food
We loved our stay at The Sands. The staff could not do enough for us. They were so helpful and welcoming. The resort had so many pool options and catered for all moods. Our pool access room was lovely for our family of 4, we loved being able to walk straight into the pool to cool off. The resort supermarket was excellent for buying snacks and beer and was not much more expensive than the supermarket out on the main street. Lots of amazing restaurants and massages just 5 mins walk to the main street. Would definitely stay again!
The waterpark, pools & family rooms worked perfectly for our family (18months + 4 year old)
Staff were extremely helpful...couldn't have asked for more!
A great place for families to stay as it caters for all ages from kids (water park) to adults with plenty of things to do.
Great location right on the beach and a vast array of restaurants, bars and shops just 200 metres up the road.
This is our third visit and will go back for a forth!
Great place great people recommend to anyone
Hotel, staff, location all perfect. If we had to find a negative, it would be the Thai buffet in The Sands Floating Market restaurant - the food was underwhelming. Better off going to a local Thai restaurant for a third of the price.
Great for young families
This was our 2nd stay at the Sands
Again the service and staff were fantastic.
We loved our week at the Sands. Service was exceptional and it was very kid friendly which was great as we have three kids under 5. It is situated on a beautiful beach and has excellent pools and a high quality kids club. The food was also fantastic. Would definitely recommend.
I stayed here with my family and is the best holiday we have had. The hotel facilities were absolutely fantastic. Our family room was very spacious and clean. I would recommend this resort to anyone as it had adult only areas as well. The location was excellent on the beach which was beautiful and great to swim in and the resort was also very close to the town to walk to at night
We absolutely love The Sands, and this was our second visit. It did not disappoint. Fantastic Rooms, Large spacious resort, excellent staff and the facilities are amazing - particularly the aqua wing with waterslides, pool bar and poolside restaurant area. The resort is located in the best part of Khao Lak, everything you need outside the resort gate. Look no further. Highly Recommend!
Beautiful resort was a great place for my sister to get married and we had our whole family stay at the resort and loved every minute of it. Was great that with the whole family staying there we didn’t feel like we were living in each other’s pockets there was plenty of different options for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Great food, all inclusive was really handy not having to worry about paying for food and drinks . The room and bed was really comfortable.
We loved the resort and activities provided. Outside of the resort there isn’t much to do unless you organise a day trip somewhere.
We had an amazing family experience staying at the resort. This was our 2nd stay at a Katathani resort and it didnt disappoint. We loved the friendly staff and the area was amazing. Great beach frontage, awesome family room, the availability and quality of tv channels on offer for westerners was a little limited, though i understand thats not what you go to a resort for.
Would have been good to for the beach to be suprevised by lifeguards and would have loved to have milk and more coffee in the room also.
Also a few extra laundry facilities would also be great.
Overall an amazing family experience.
This resort is amazing. In the best location at Khao Lak as you walk out of the resort to the main part of town full of restaurants and shops. Would definitely recommend the resort for young families, the water park and kids club are amazing. Gym facilities excellent.
Great holiday destination
great place to stay, nice town with plenty of options for eating and shopping.
As Senior travellers the staff were very helpful to us which was much appreciated. Room could have 2 easy chairs instead of settee.
We have stayed here before but to have the all inclusive package made it so much better for us. At our age catching taxis and looking for restaurants is not so relaxing.
Great holiday - had the all inclusive packages so no hidden surprises!
If I could give this place a 6 star rating I would. Don’t have 1 negative thing to say. Everything was fabulous from service to food and facilities. Will definitely return.
Awesome place and venue
This resort is excellent for families , the pools are awesome and all the restaurants are great, food is beautiful
We have just returned from The Sands, we did not want to leave!!! The resort is fantastic, perfect for families. We arrived to be told that we had been upgraded from a Pool Access room to the 2 bedroom Pool Access room. The room was clean and well presented. I would definitely recommend a pool access room. The Waterpark was amazing - my 5 year old loved it! The water slides and lazy river were super fun for all of us. My son enjoyed the kids club, you can opt in for activities like cooking classes and clay modelling. The food was good, we often ate lunch at the resort. They had themed buffet dinners every night - we went to the Thai one and there was a good variety of food. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We really loved our stay at The Sands - hopefully we can go back next year! Would definitely stay here again!
We had a wonderful first stay at this hotel. The checkin went smoothly, the rooms were extremely clean and comfortable (we had a family room with 2 adults and 2 kids and was plenty big enough) The amenities were fantastic, buffet breakfast had a great choice and was enjoyable. The gym was also well equipped. A few negatives is that the different pool bars all have different pricing which I think management need to look at, should not matter which area you sit the prices of food and drink should be the same across the hotel.
The Sands resort was perfect. From the breakfast buffet to the kids club and the restaurants nearby. I couldn’t find fault with our stay. I appreciate Travel Online’s recommendation and would highly recommend this resort for a family holiday.
We really enjoyed our stay at 'The Sands Resort'. The resort was walking distance to other restaurants, bars and shops. I have been to Thailand several times but really enjoyed Khao Lak. The resort has a pool for families with two water slides, floating rafts, restaurant and swim up bar. We stayed in a pool access room and thoroughly enjoyed it. The resort also has an adults only pool area and also another pool for families right on the beach. We loved being able to walk directly onto the beach from the resort. My family had massages near the beach (part of the hotel) and absolutely loved them. There are several restaurants to choose from to eat at including two places for breakfast. I would stay there again and also recommend this resort to all my family and friends. It was a very relaxing holiday. I went with my husband, son and his girlfriend. There was plenty to do and we feel that the holiday was more relaxing and entertaining than any previous holiday. There is a gym which was very clean and had lots of equipment. The gym also had yoga, boxing etc classes. The prices of food and drink were very reasonably prices and they also have a shop where you can also purchase alcohol, chips, lollies, flotation toys, soft drinks and water.
Perfect destination for families with young children
Highly recommended! Resort is beautiful, nice quiet location. Will definitely return.
Everything you need in one place, well kept and clean.
Only improvement suggestion I have is for the resort to have people who can communicate better in english for their front line positions because alot of things were lost in translation.
In saying that every stuff member went above and beyond to make our stay memorable.
Loved every minute - we will be back!
overall a great place, very clean and great food.
There were lots of great things about the hotel, however also a few disappointments. The room was very clean and spacious. Travelling with children we were in a family room and it was nice being able to close off the doors to provide some separation. The balcony was also spacious and quite private which was nice. The grounds are also spacious and well kept. However unfortunately while we were there the water park was closed for 'emergency' repairs for the majority of our stay. While I guess this is unavoidable to a certain extent, it was nonetheless disappointing as it was a large factor in selecting this hotel. The bigger water slides also seemed to close at varying times with little consistency. When the aqua park was already closed I especially would have expected a little more effort in keeping the slides open.
Relaxing destination with modern facilities and very attentive staff.
Perfect.
Our stay at The Sands Khao Lak was fantastic. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The resort was beautiful and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It has something for everyone - fun at the family Joy pool, peace and quiet at the Peace Pool, a swim up bar, chairs by the pool or the beach, a games room and outdoor games. And everything was beautifully maintained and felt fresh.
Our room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful with a great range of choices. The location was perfect - right on the beach, and easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants.
We felt so at home we didn't want to leave.
The Sands Resort was wonderfully located, just 5mins walk to Khao Lak centre. Located right on the beach with beautiful grounds, pools and facilities (fully fledged gym is excellent), it is definitely worth a visit. Overall the rooms have everything you need and are quite modern (although slight signs of ageing). Housekeeping staff were very good and considerate and even made me a special elephant from hand towels as a surprise for my birthday (lovely) and a birthday cake was delivered to my room as well. A special touch from a very considerate manager. Great activities room and program and also a very competitively priced mini-mart on site for all of your needs. Restaurant food was good (not great) but being so close to town centre we ate a lot of fresh Thai and other western dishes anyway. Pools are just beautiful with swim up bar and numerous 'happy hours' across the 3 bars. Resort would benefit from a coffee shop/cafe to supplement existing food options, but overall this place is very good and definitely worth your time and money. Ideal for families (with designated kids pool and play areas), but also excellent for couples due to beauty of grounds and quite places to sit and take in the view.
All 3 rooms we had were great.. Very nice family resort in a great location..
Great resort, great location, perfect for families and those looking for a quiet relaxing time. The staff were amazing all of the time, so helpful. Good food choices and the breakfast buffet met and exceeded expectations. Plenty to do in the area and lots of great value options for eating in town.
We had a sensational time at the Sands - you couldn't ask for friendlier staff - The Family room was well laid out and provided room for the 3 of us. The kids pool was very clean and well laid out, the water slide provided hours of fun for our 10 year old. The restaurants provided a good variety of food which was well prepared, tasty and hot, breakfasts were plentiful with heaps to choose from both Asian style and simple cereal, eggs & bacon with heaps of fruit to choose as well. The layout of the resort was great, the beach lovely with nice soft sand and not rocky. Plenty of pool beds and shade provided. The massages were sensational and reasonably priced. Its location is about 100kms north of Phuket so was well off the beaten track and away from the hustle and bustle. Khao Lak is a great town with heaps of variety of restaurants and close to the amazing Similan Islands if diving or snorkeling is your thing. Would definitely go back to the Sands!
My family and myself were thoroughly thrilled with all the facilities The Sands had to offer. The resort is located on The Khao Lak beach and it stretches back from there.Every luxury is available for guests. The staff are warm, efficient and professional. We loved our accommodation.
