The whole holiday to daydream exceeded our expectations.
My only recommendation is to have control over the temperature of the room, for me it was too cold. a balcony would have been nice, but we were very happy with the room.
Everything about Daydream Island resort was very relaxing and enjoyable . I especially liked the living reef experiences with the Stingray feeding and the guided snorkel tour in the living reef pool .
What a beautiful small yet well located island, only 40 minutes launch from Hamilton Is.
My husband and I had a truly relaxing time celebrating our golden wedding anniversary.
The island offers so much particularly for families with young children who are fascinated by the many Australian animals that inhabit the island, as well as the multitude of sea life. You can do as much as you like or as little, depending on the type of holiday you seek. Plenty of water sports, including swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, boating are on offer and you can even travel to other nearby islands via launch. The two main restaurants on the island served a variety of food that catered for young and old and the fine dining experience was truly memorable.
The staff we dealt with were friendly yet professional and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We loved our stay and would love to return next time with our family and grandlings.
The island is beautiful and the staff in the restaurants are delightful
Be prepared to be engaged by an range of wild life and consideration of the special environment that is Whitsundays
Food is great but at city prices, but you are on holidays so treat yourself
We absolutely loved our Daydream island holiday, with Mr 3 year old and grandma. It was better than we expected! The room was beautiful and fresh, and large, at least 30m². The restaurants were reasonably priced and food exceptional, with friendly casual service. Infinity had the most spectacular views, we felt like we were in a ship. Lovers cove was a gorgeous beach to relax on and snorkel at, great fish literally a Metre offshore. The water was 23 degrees( june). The only drawback is the beautiful main pools aren't heated; so a but too chilly for us. Overall a really relaxing, lovely holiday and we would highly recommend, and are planning a return next year! Just remember it isn't Qualia or Hayman island, but you aren't paying those prices. Absolutely value for money, and a beautiful part of the world.
Wow. Getting off the ferry & greeted by the Duty Manager of the shift. Great welcome. Into the room, even better, what a view room number 1211.
Absolutely fantastic. Quick look around, lots to see. Fish in aquariums, the observatory downstairs so peaceful, could spend the whole trip down there, just watching the fish.
Restaurants were a bit hit n miss with a conference on, & one whole restaurant closed.
The staff were mostly very attentive.
The ferry cost to Airlie Beach was very costly.
Otherwise a great break met some nice people, & unwound a bit.
The resort is located in a beautiful part of the world but probably needs a bit of tlc in places. Food was pretty good and access to other islands and reef by cruise Whitsundays was super easy.
Given we weren't there at a busy time the dining options were fine but I think in peak season it would be pretty crazy with long wait times for drinks and restaurant tables.
Staff were generally helpful and gave us a good welcome run down so we knew what the island offered. The Lovers Cove area for sunset drinks was lovely and we went both nights!
We had a King room which was gigantic, the food was amazing at both restaurants we tried, enjoyed snorkelling every day, the best was the staff, fun loving and very attentive in the restaurants, and the wildlife just made it more fun
Great few days for relaxing, Island is suitable for all, because of Covid they are still reorganising, Booking through TravelOnline was extremely smooth and relatively easy considering I was not Proficient at doing this type of thing , overall a Great experience. Thank YOU
Weather was great, the amenities, the location and the food and drinks were amazing
We all really enjoyed our stay at Daydream Island. I would recommend it to others. The food was nice, the service was good. I don't have any major complaints. The kids loved the kangaroos and the island is beautifully presented. When I was talking to my husband, we just thought it was a bit of a budget holiday without the budget price tag. It wasn't quite 5 star quality. At $600 a night, I did expect a bit nicer room and more food options. By this I mean, there was no room service, no day spa, no pool side service, there were jusr a few things missing that would have brought it up to 5 stars.
Difficult to book for activities for short stay
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful island, stunning views. All the staff were lovely. Living reef was incredible. Lots of activities to keep you busy, or just laze on a sunlounger with a cocktail. Highly recommend.
Service was great, food too and facilities clean
we totally enjoyed our stay it was the rest we needed thankyou for an excellent stay
We had a great 5 night stay at Daydream Island. The living reef is fantastic. You can relax by the pool or at lovers cover. Or enjoy all the on and off shore tours the island has to offer. I would recommend getting a room with a balcony!
Stayed in this beautiful resort for 5 days.
Surrounded by blue waters and amazing views.
Walking around to bump into kangaroos, cockatoos and butterflies!
Incredible Living Reef Snorkelling guided tour!
Highly recommended!
Daily breakfast buffet at 7.00am
Suggestion: breakfast buffet to start early as most of tours depart at 7.30ish... so not enough time to eat.
My husband and I spent 5 days at DayDream Island Resort. The staff was very welcoming and led us to our room with a pool view. Unfortunately the pool water was still a bit quite cold and the spa bath was not working.
We had a very enjoyable stay and the weather was perfect. The only downside was the lack of choice of restaurants and menus on the island. Two of the restaurants had the same menu and take away menu was very limited. The cost of the food also was very pricey.
But otherwise, I would recommend DayDream Island Resort and would probably return.
Excellent facilities for young families, having plenty of activities planned and participate in. Kids Club and baby-sitting facilities are also available.
5 nights of pure relaxation. The staff were friendly and always helpful. Room was clean and comfortable, although would have preferred a balcony.
Relaxing and peaceful getaway. Breakfast buffet fantastic. Limited lunch and night dining options that you must book in advance. Can book a lot of tours from the island. Highly recommend JetSki tour. Rooms were lovely. Lots of swimming pools. None were heated which was a shame staying through cooler months. 5 days was more than enough.
We enjoyed our family of four stay for 6 nights, the staff were friendly and helpful, they felt short staffed but they did well. The common areas of the resort could have been cleaner at times. There was plenty to do on and off the island and the living reef was a nice experience and relaxing to sit and watch. The kids loved the kangaroos and bird life. We saw turtles and whales while our on ocean rafting (recommend them). We will return one day.
Beautiful location. The room was a bit basic, hard bed, small fridge. The activities on Daydream were also quite basic - great for kids but not the adventurous adults. We went outside of school holidays and found the main restaurant in the aviary was only open for breakfast and we wanted to try a dinner there so evening meals were limited. The Camira was absolutely amazing... would highly recommend it!!!
Stayed for 3 nights which was enough. Reminds me of being on a cruise as there is a daily activity sheet to give people options of things to do as it is a very small island. Unfortunately our stay coincided with an arctic blast so water activities weren't really on the cards unless you like being cold. Beautiful resort though, absolutely love the living reef. Good idea to book the restaurants in advance as they are very busy, often understaffed and turn people away, luckily there is the option of takeaway otherwise you would be going hungry. Rooms are nice and spacious and well appointed.
A calm relaxing resort that is well presented and serviced by friendly professional staff. An enjoyable stay thankyou
A great place to relax and enjoy the reef. Good snorkeling, friendly staff and plenty to occupy everyone.
A calm relaxing spot to spend a few days. Being immersed in the reef with great snorkeling and the living reef to watch while you had breakfast or drinks was amazing. The underwater observatory made the fish and coral accessible to everyone. A very pleasant place to unwind.
Overall lifetime experience with excellent views and location.
My daughter and I had the best time staying on Daydream Island.
The staff are extremely helpful, the food in all the restaurants was excellent and the living reef was the biggest bonus. Feeding the rays was a highlight.
We could not fault our time there.
Great place to stay, great surrounds, great food, great staff. The family loved it and we will definitely go back. Don't listen to the negative comments, most of them are just nonsense.
Thank you to all the staff at Daydream Island for making our holiday very relaxing and enjoyable. Special mention to Steve and his team at Infinity restaurant for arranging a special night for my husband's 50th. We greatly appreciated it.
A very beautiful and relaxing resort on the Island, lovely staff, good service food and drinks.
My grandchildren and I had a pleasant week on the island. Our room was right on the garden and near the pool so we couldn't have asked for more .We enjoyed exploring the island, using the paths provided and climbing over the bush track, the wallabies, the pools and swimming and snorkelling at the beach, including the activities provided, such as kyaking, SUP, and the catamaran. It was good to lie in the sun and read or talk or snooze. I enjoyed seeing the man vacuuming the wallaby poo !! One of our favourite things was the buffet breakfast.!! We ate well. It was good to watch the fish as we ate. The children dragged me off to Bingo, and the Trivia nights, which I then enjoyed for a bit of fun and interacting with other guests. We also played pool, and table tennis. We had some talks with the wait staff who are lovely young people from all over the world........quite an international experience.! I also had some lovely conversations with other guests. Because I was on a limited budget, I found the price of food at the restaurants was a bit much, but we managed to find the best options from the three. All together, we had a very enjoyable weeks holiday.
The resort is very family friendly. The rooms are very comfortable and immaculate. The staff couldn't do more for us. The facilities where great! The only thing was that the food was expensive.
.
Amazing area of natural beauty. Beautiful island.
Resort was lacking in food choices for vegetarians.
Room was beautiful overlooking the sea, but we did have an upgrade.
Customer service was sadly lacking.
Amazing area of outstanding beauty. Feel like you are in paradise.
Very limited options on food - not well catered for vegetarians.
Customer service was a bit lacking.
It was obvious that the staff in the Inkstone restaurant were under a bit of pressure, hence we were told one night that the restaurant was fully booked. On going past it later, that was patently untrue. But the Take-away service was good, and the cocktails amazing.
The breakfast was very well good, and tasted great, the evening meal was not good, and too expensive.
Overall an enjoyable stay. Some areas appeared to be understaffed e.g some of the bars.
Not really a cheap option for accommodation but location is beautiful if you want something special. Staff were awesome and accommodating regarding our situation and wanting a special memorable stay. Weather wasn't crash hot but we managed a 60 minute helicopter ride out over the reef and Islands and a couple of boat rides to several locations. Room service for food would have been nice but you have to pick up take out from restaurants if eating in room. I felt food choices were limited and would have been nice to have a " fine dining" option.. Overall was a great holiday with lovely memories which was our goal...
Our stay on daydream island package cost $1990 for 2 people for 4 nights which included a half day cruise to Whitehaven beach and $100 food and beverage voucher. This price was right on the money I think for the resort. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful with vibrant wildlife all over it. The living reef pool and underwater viewing room is amazing however you need to pay $100pp to do any snorkeling or guided tour in the pool with the reef and marine life. Alcoholic beverages are well over priced on the islands also. Overall very happy with the price I paid for our stay.
Switch off the world, immerse into laziness, relax your mind and body - it's all possible here at the Daydream Island. Though, there are some activities scheduled every day - free or paid - it's your choice. I wish we could stay longer....... we may - > next time.
We had a wonderful time the staff always greeted us with a warm friendly smile.
We really enjoyed our 4 nights at Daydream Island. The facilities were great. Pools amazing. Location spectacular. Staff were friendly. Service did become a bit slow in the restaurants and pool bar at the end of our stay. 2 main meals were overcooked but still ok. Overall we had a great mini holiday. The kids did not want to leave and have asked that we holiday there every year. lol. :)
As we are older and we like to have our holiday without children .
Next time we will go out of school holidays. With all that said we had a lovely time.
We had the worst weather when we were!!! Strong winds and rain for three days. However there was still so much to keep the kids and ourselves entertained. We spent ages each day relaxing on cousins and just watching the fish swim by in the observatory. We did the snorkeling and fish feeding, rain forest walk, they had a huge room upstairs with games and colouring in. It was honestly the best resort to be at in bad weather but in good weather it would be magical.
Room was great.
Food was great.
Staff very friendly.
Service was great but they seem to seem to be very under staffed at night.
We enjoyed the stay, however the food was not as good as we had expected it to be. I think there needs to be a change to the menu as well as consideration in the cooking.
Just got back from a 5 night stay. The reviews I read before I went are all over the place so wanted to add my thoughts.
We are an island holiday family of 4 with 2 kids (now 10 and 8). We all love the water and we are experienced divers and snorkellers. Over the last 15 years we have been to Heron, Lady Elliot, Moreton, Great Keppel, Hamilton Island x 2 and Daydream.
In Fiji...main island, Beqa, Malolo and Treasure Island x3.
Resort looked great...rooms were nice enough although we did get a lot of little ants and floor had condensation most mornings...shower poorly designed and gets a lot of water on the floor...nothing major though.
The lagoon/aquarium is great. We did a family yoga session in front of the observatory window...did the ray feeding and the guided snorkel...very nice.
The pool area is nice and big. Snorkeling around the island is pretty poor compared to most islands we have been to...but just frolicking in Lovers Cove is a great way to spend a few hours. Island really suffers from low tide syndrome (like a few islands do). No real sandy beaches to play on...bring reef shoes.
Food and drinks were reasonably priced and service was good. Happy with the food.
Kids loved the place. Is it my favourite island...no...but I had a very enjoyable time and would certainly return another time.
We had a wonderful stay at Daydream Island! The resort is beautiful and the wildlife is fantastic. From the moment we stepped off the ferry, we were pampered. They took care of our luggage from the ferry to our room and we were welcomed with shell necklaces. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. They took great care that we knew exactly which ferry we were to take on excursions and the Whitsunday Cruise folks made us feel like VIPs.
Daydream Island is an amazing place to stay although all the activities, food & drinks can be pretty expensive for what you get.
On our last day, we heard about water activities free which was part of the stay, we were not informed on booking in.
Lovely clean resort. Wildlife is a hit. Staff really friendly, with highlights of Georgia at reception and Anna at Water Activities.
Food overall was nice, however I would have liked to see more options for dinner. It was hard to find vegetables, and kid's food options were limited (not all kids want nuggets and chips).
Activities were great. Great that the water activities were included. Looking forward to more of the island being open on our next trip, as it would have been great to explore more.
Positives: We had a great stay at the resort, there was plenty for the kids to do and they loved it. Snorkelling at Lovers Cove at low tide was almost as good as heading out to the reef! We stayed for 5 nights which was probably enough, although we still didn't do all the things we wanted to! The in-house moves were free which was great when you have kids!
Negatives: There is no room service at the resort and if you are used to staying at nice hotels you will find the housekeeping a disappointment - with kids that spread crumbs on the first day they never got cleaned up so we had a crumby room the whole 5 days. Maybe a dustpan in the room if the housekeeping isn't going to clean the floor? I wouldn't mind sweeping my own room. Also no hotel information in the rooms which was a bit odd...
We enjoyed our stay in Daydream Island. It is beautiful and great for kids. Although the food was pricey, the service was great. Staff was very helpful and I think they have made a huge improvement since after a lot of complaints. I would say 4 days was enough to explore the island.
We enjoyed our stay at the newly renovated Daydream Island resort. Not many guests on the island which was great
The room was clean and comfortable and the view from the balcony was great! The facilities were very clean and the service from the staff was very good. We loved the living reef and being able to snorkel in the reef. The food choices in the restaurants were a little limited but the quality of the food was good. The only improvement I would suggest is a separate recycling bin in the rooms.
Great resort, really enjoyed our stay
We could not fault it. We will be back. Friendly staff and hard working. The place was spotless. Food was amazing.
The whole thing about our stay at Daydream Island was excellent. Staff, food, service and accommodation. Thank you
Wonderful location, rooms were great. The dining was a let down with very few options on the menu when buffet restaurant was closed.
Our stay at Daydream Island resort was amazing. From the moment we were checked in by Gavin who was very pleasant and helpful - we had a wonderful time. All the staff were extremely friendly.
I would like to really express my appreciation and praise for a few staff in particular:
Kenzie, Amber, Crystal and Vasa - wait staff at Inkstone....they were so awesome and friendly especially to our little guy as well as to us ..It was our anniversary during our time there and Kenzie and Amber especially went out of their way to make our evening so special...it was so lovely and made an already great evening perfect.
Georgia at reception was also so lovely and friendly...taking time to give our little guy some extra attention every time she saw him.
It made our stay so much more memorable!
If I had one complaint and it is only minor....the coffee service at breakfast in Graze (the buffet restaurant) was very very slow and twice we had to ask if we were actually going to get a coffee! Also some of the knives were quite blunt...I could hardly cut through my toast.
We also had a room overlooking (Driftwood wing) Tonic bar....unfortunately the music that was being played through the speakers was often quite loud especially at night time.
Other than those minor things...our stay was very relaxing and very enjoyable
The place is lovely more of a family resort, they advertised that its a resort and spa but unfortunately the spa is not a spa but a hotel room in which you have to try and contact the therapist yourself the hotel don't ring to make a booking this was disappointing as we booked the hotel because its says hotel and spa. A little short staffed at times needed to wait all in all it was good.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 nights on Daydream. A few minor hiccups but the staff went out of their way to assist us. The rooms were spacious enough and the facilities were great. The food and beverage prices were what was expected of an island resort. Would recommend it to family and friends.
If you're looking for a relaxing family holiday, then DayDream Island is the perfect location
We had a brilliant time at Daydream Island. The living reef was amazing and absolutely loved by the kids. They especially loved the stingray feeding activities. Only minor negative was the cold pools. A little heating would make them much more enjoyable! We will be back anyway - it's a unique and amazing place.
We have just returned from a fantastic 5 nights at Daydream Island. The living reef was the absolute highlight. Our 4 and 1 year old boys loved being able to see so many sea creatures all day every day. The ray feeding activities were brilliant. The food was great and staff were lovely. Only minor downside was the pools did not seem to be heated! Other than that I would highly recommend Daydream.
My husband and I just spent a week on Daydream Island and it was absolutely beautiful. The rooms are so large and spacious not to mention stunning decor. The staff were all so friendly and helpful and a great variety of food. So relaxing, we will definitely be going back.
The rooms are great, however information about service, such as wifi or restaurant location would be nice
Perfect holiday location for our young family. Plenty of activities, beautiful scenery and some great dining options. The staff were fabulous, a lot of them went above and beyond to help keep us comfortable when our daughter got sick. Would enthusiastically recommended to other families!
There should be more eating facilities/delicatessen
Great place to unwind and relax amongst beautiful surrounds. The lagoon and underwater observatory are amazing. Rooms neat and newly renovated, hard to believe this place was trashed by Cyclone Debbie. Wildlife at your balcony several times a day. Hard to leave and return to reality.
Daydream Island is the ideal place for relaxing and getting away from it all.
The views are stunning
Overall we enjoyed our stay even though it was very windy most of our stay and this wind even filtered into Inkstone restaurant and the main foyer. So we were very cold even when we sat inside. We went to our rooms to keep warm. That was a shame because we wanted to enjoy the music at night but were too cold. Food at Graze was of very poor quality. Prawns and oysters were inedible and my whole group love seafood. Need a lot more fresh fruit on breakfast bar. At breakfast the hot food was often cold and even the hot water to make tea and coffee was cold and I had to buy coffee from the Barista. Need full length mirrors in the bedrooms. And separate reading lights as I shared a room and when one person was reading the other was kept awake due to lighting. The pizzas at Inkstone were terrible. We love pizzas but didn’t enjoy the one we ordered at all so we didn’t order another one. Enjoyed the food at Infinity. Very nice meals there. The older man at the burger bar near the pool was not friendly at all and didn’t seem to provide the friendly service that all the other staff did. Spa was good. I enjoyed my facial and the rest of my group enjoyed their treatments. Peta on the activities desk was exceptionally helpful, friendly and knew exactly what to recommend to us in the way of activities. We enjoyed all that she recommended. We would have continued with the wonderful yoga in the underwater room but the girl teaching it left after the first class. She was great too!!! We enjoyed the fish feeding. Beautiful outdoor areas. We will return to the Whitsundays. It’s such a beautiful part of the world.
Enjoyed our stay, very relaxing, would have liked a little more entertainment and maybe a better venue for day spa but very happy with overall venue and service.
There was no light food option for lunch
Buffet & Infinity very expensive
Infinity excellent but you do not want such rich food to often
We had a very relaxing stay staff añd service was fantastic. Food at the main dinning area was very well presented.Dining at other restaurants was quite pricy, would of been nice if this was told told to use when booking.Overall it was fantastic time.
The resort and staff were lovely, the room however had a very very strong mould smell which the resort tried to accommodate but unfortunately the stent was strong.
I would sell the resort more for families as opposed to couples however I can’t fault the service and the staff.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially after getting an upgrade on our original package. Weather (wind) hampered our ability to do some of the resort activities, but we always found something to do. Loved the Inkstone Restaurant, but found the Graze Buffet over priced for what you got and the Infinity Restaurant was out of our league price wise. We thought more activities could have been organised in Atrium Bar during the day. A little pricey, but overall staff and facilities were first class.
A very peaceful break. Eatery options were quite restricted. Great service.
We stayed here from the 20th - 25th March. We had a fantastic time here, our 19mth old daughter loved it. The Living Reef Lagoon is amazing, haven't seen anything like it. We had an Ocean Balcony room on the ground floor, which we found was great. Beautiful view, clean and tidy and having the air con was great. We loved the activities on the Island. The Fish Feeding Tour is a must, we had Louise, she was fantastic. It was an amazing experience for the 3 of us. Fish feeding at Lover's Cove was also one of the highlights for us. A half day trip to Whitehaven Beach, was also amazing. The staff on the Whitsunday Cruise Boats are truly fantastic and very professional. We found a half day there to be enough for us with a little one. We would have liked to do more activities like the Daydream Discovery Boat, Jet Ski's and the Helicopter Hot Laps however due to the weather and running out of time we weren't able too. Definitely next time. We were a little disappointed on finding out once we had already booked our trip that half the eating venues would be closed. However we worked our way around it and it certainly didn't ruin our trip. We all really enjoyed the buffet breakfast and the carvery buffet was great too. As a Chef myself I thought the Chef's do an amazing job, considering the heat they have to work in and the enormous amount of food they produce each day. Well done, we loved it. We would love to return when it reopens after the refurb next year, however probably wouldn't until everything was open so we could experience everything the Island offers. Overall it was a lovely holiday. Hope to see them get back on there feet soon.
It will be nice after the renovation. The daily room service needs to be improved. The tours are fabulous. There need to be more options for food i.e dinner. Water bottles at $4.00 each are expensive.
Beautiful resort and staff were friendly however dining options were limited and only during set times. Most of the cafe's and shops were closed and transport to the south end stops at 2pm which is ridiculous considering the pool and facilities at that end of the island. We were told restaurants and cafes would not be closed just prior to leaving but when we got there they were closed. Biggest issue was central eating area and meeting place was not cooled at all (not even fans) for guests and worse for staff. Also be aware that without notice hundreds of day trippers can invade the island for the day at one time and weddings can close main snorkeling beach. With notice this could have been managed better. Rooms were lovely and air conditioned and again, the staff were lovely just too much cost cutting happening with closing venues, operating times, cooling in main areas and transport. Still managed to enjoy our time and would go again just would be better prepared.
We stayed there with a 4-year-old and a one-year-old, and they enjoyed it quite a lot. The ray feeding is definitely a must. Fish feeding on Lover's Cove beach is also loads of fun with the kids.
However, the resort could use some management improvements. The shop did not restock for a week, and half of the restrooms on the island were out of order.
Also note that the babysitting service is quite expensive. But it's more fun if you don't need it anyways.
There was no air con in the reception and restaurants which meat by the time you left your room you were sweating. There was no point of wearing makeup. Food was expensive and options to dine were limited. Babysitting service and daycare was expensive with a minimum of 3 hours to be paid.
Not as good as 12 months ago. New management. But renovating. People penalised because of closed restaurants and Renovations.
We stayed at Daydream for 4 nights at the end of January. We were lucky with the weather. The room, a garden balcony, was clean with two queen beds and a little 2 chair - coffee table set. The beds were comfortable. Two issues with the room. The first being the air conditioner which looked liked it was 20 years old and seemed to operate in spurts, blowing with much gusto and then seeming to go to sleep for a while, after which it would repeat the sequence. The other was the dated bathroom which seriously needed an overhaul - weak water pressure, dim lighting and a dodgy toilet. We ate at Mermaids and had food from Splashes. Both good but not great. The staff, mostly travellers, were friendly and tried hard to be helpful. The best part of Daydream for us was the snorkelling. The beach at Lovers Cove has lots of fish and live colourful coral close to shore. We were also fortunate enough to snorkel with turtles off the north side beach. We also did kayaking, paddle boarding and a day trip to Whitehaven which left from the islands wharf. Overall a nice place for a short holiday with kids.
Great week away, peaceful and relaxing
Our stay at Daydream was only for 4 nights which for me was long enough. The pool was a great place to relax & read if you were lucky enough to get a lounge chair. Food was pretty good. We tried their takeaway pizza the first night which was ok, nothing to rave about & completely overpriced (but we knew this beforehand). We went to Mermaids the second night, probably the best meal we had. Had the buffet carvery at Waterfalls the third night. I wouldn't go there again but the kids loved the dessert buffet!! And our final night we went to the bistro over near the outdoor cinema which was quite nice.
In regards to our accommodation, we stayed in a family room which was basically two rooms interconnecting. There was a king bed in our room & 2 double beds in the kids room. The water in the bathroom in the kids room was brown so we didn't use their bathroom. There seemed to be an ant problem in our room & we constantly had problems with our keys not working so we would have to take the keys back to reception to be re-set. This happened close to 10 times!! On a positive note, the beds were comfy. We didn't spend a lot of time in our rooms so we weren't too fussed about it but I definitely think a renovation is needed in the near future.
Overall we enjoyed our 4 night stay however I would not rush back there again. I would recommend staying elsewhere & perhaps doing a day trip out to Daydream Island.
an excellent resort in a great location with lots of activities
Needed a facelift. Maintenance not being kept up - i.e. pool not kept very clean, tiles missing, filter broken. Ran out of water in the room for a number of hours, then silty - flushing, showers etc. Communication between reception and housekeeping poor. Meals expensive. I could go on, but wont. On a positive note the room sizes were OK.
We find it difficult to be dissatisfied when we are on holidays .... for the sole reason that "we are on Holidays!!!!":))....... BUT on Day Dream Island, most of the admin staff seemed unhappy, distracted and stressed. The curtains in the room were dirty and mouldy, and the vents including the air conditioning unit were piled with dust. Food was mostly average - in saying that my son loved having fries with practically every meal. I had to to purchase water because the water ran dirty out of the taps and the staff's reaction to it was "don't worry, you'll get use to it. I am ok, i drink it". My daughter became unwell half way through the holiday feeling nauseous but she managed to keep smiling.
Activities staff were lovely and helpful teaching us how to sail, and the Jet Ski tour and staff were awesome. Feeding the fish and snorkelling in lovers cove was a great experience. Kids also enjoyed swimming in all the pools and spas.
The Great Barrier Reef Adventure day trip was excellent - staff on the tour were energetic, happy and couldn't do enough for you. We did the 10 min helicopter flight, Semi submersible and snorkelling and swimming with al the fish and turtle. Excellent experience - would do this again.
It was a shame about Day Dream Island - I knew going there that the accommodation would be old and not modern but I was expecting it to be clean and friendly..... Worth visiting as a day trip :0)
Only problem limited dining options & costs of food.
Beautiful pools and neat and tidy rooms. Not all restaurants were open at all times which limited dining options, this could easily be dealt with by extending the golf cart shuttle hours or providing room service. The actual facilities like mini golf and tables in the restaurants are quite run down - nothing some TLC couldn't fix. Perhaps Mermaids could be made a child free restaurant PLEASE!!!!! Staff were lovely, we used the baby-sitting service which was great as well.
Overall an amazing holiday for our family. The resort staff were very friendly and helpful and the activities on the island are great. Fish feeding at Lovers Cove is a MUST For any visitor. The food options are limited and expensive, best value is The Bakery at lunch time. Resort could really do with a tidy-up and the Putt-Putt course is in dire need of maintenance (although my 9 year old still loved it). The pools are lovely and we enjoyed our afternoon cocktails and mock tails at the swim up bar. Would definately recommend to our friends, especially families.
My boyfriend and I both loved daydream island. It was a perfect holiday destination for relaxing but also had a lot of activities to do. It was the perfect combination and just what we were after. Would highly recommend this place and will be back
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome. The Coral Ocean ground floor room offered spectacular views of the islands, Mermaids restaurant was kid friendly offering reasonably priced delious food (catering for allergies), the rejuvenation spa was heaven and private tours of the Living Reef and snorkeling at Lovers Cove are a must do! While the resort does need some modernising it didn't stop us having 7 amazing days.
We had a great holiday with our 2 yr old - fantastic resort and friendly and helpful staff
Dining options were very limited
Beautiful room over looking the Whitsunday passage. Food excellent staff wonderful and location the best Words can't describe the island just beautiful. Be back next year
The restaurants were not up to scratch with the exception of Mermaids. The Fish Bowl food was not even up to pub food standard. The cost of the restaurants was very expensive. A BBQ dinner should not cost $45 per head and still have to pay for drinks
The stay was friendly and enjoyable even though the food was not great.
Beautiful Island and we had a great time, the only concern we had was the restaurants/ dinning, running out of food, eg juice , butter in the morning and the mermaids restaurant ran out of a few ingredients so there was some dishes you couldn't order on 20/10/16. you should have a food/ drink package available for quests to make the stay easier. There was no room service available if you wanted to just order a pizza and eat in specially when u have kids and they are tired and need to go to bed you couldn't. The Gillian's bar was not opened our whole stay, Just a few ideas to improve the stay with dining and it would of been close to perfect.
I travelled to daydream as a singleton for 5 days.
The transition from the airport to the ferry to the island was a very smooth one.
The staff were friendly from the minute I arrived.
Nothing was too much trouble and they were very approachable and helpful.
The overall layout of the hotel is quite simple and it is easy to find your way around.
There are 4 main restaurants with only 2 operating per night. You are recommended each night to make a reservation to avoid disappointment. There are 3 serving times.
Also note that although this is a good location for families with children, it's very expensive as expected.
I only had dinner once during my stay which was the buffet from waterfalls restaurant and it was 50 dollars excluding drinks.
As this is an island, I knew it would be expensive for food and general everyday essentials but just bear this in mind.
Bring a good pair of hard sole flip flips as none of daydream's beaches have sand.
Needed to shorten as too long
We LOVED daydream, complete oasis ! We went there for our honeymoon 10 years ago and just came back for our 10 anniversary. They rooms are the same neat, tidy and cleaned daily. You go there for the beautiful beaches, snorkelling and what QLD islands are about. Hats off to the groundsman and the marine biologists
Took the whole family here and had a great time, we got 2 nights free so it was really good value. Plenty to do on the island, pools are amazing, great water sports, but the best thing was being able to feed the fish and snorkel so close to the island without having to pay to go to the reef. Highly recommend as a great place for families. Lunch options on the island are poor and expensive and they only have one catamarian, which is silly considering how many rooms they have, but we had plenty to do and everyone had a great time
Very little food options and food is expensive. Everything else was amazing.
Daydream is a beautiful and relaxing island resort, the staff were very friendly and always willing to do their best to assist - always with a smile.
I have read some negative reviews of the resort and can't believe they were of the same place.
If you get the chance do the helicopter flight to Whitehaven, the scenery on the flight and Whitehaven itself is stunning.
Really great time for family get together. Enjoyed included activities.
Restricted venues and times for food was disruptive.
Currently a great family resort (for young children). Rooms are a tad small for teenagers and parents. Plenty of activities to do to keep everyone busy. 5 days are long enough unless doing other activities off the island (Ocean rafting and reef are highly recommended)
We had a great four days that for us was right. Friendly attentive staff made the stay an enjoyable one. We will think about a return some time in the future
Not friendly for reduced mobility persons.
It was a shame that not all restaurants were open.
Beds in room and pillows all needed to be updated.
Was an amazing experience. The island was a beautiful place. We found all staff members friendly and very helpful nothing was to much for them. This included the staff on the ferries who gave you all the information needed when going on our day trip. Which was the best experience in my life. The room had an awesome view in which one day we saw a turtle from our balcony. The hotel was lovely. We always stopped when ever we went past the water ways to watch the fish, Ray's and sharks. I would recommend it mainly to people wanting a romantic getaway.
Our room was very comfortable but was located next to a service room which was producing considerable motor noise continually fortunately in the bathroom area but also to a lesser degree in the main room
The island was lovely and we enjoyed our time there immensely. It is only small but there is plenty to do or if you want to relax there are plenty of places to choose. The only disappointing element was the choices of food options and times that you could eat were a little restrictive. The Fish Bowl restaurant was also disappointing as the food was well below par. Overall though I would definitely go back
The island is beautiful the staff were amazing the only nice food was at the tavern and that wasn't open every night. But overall it was a great holiday my 11 year old could just go off and play with his friends and we knew he would be safe
Great time, better than expected. The resort had a great friendly atmosphere with lots to do and see. Nice comfortable rooms overlooking the pool, Beautiful beaches and loads of fun in the sun things to do...paddleboarding, cats, kayaks etc. Would highly recommend and would definately return in the future.....great 4 days!!
Island is terrific, dining options are limited and very expensive, but guess that is the price for the location. Buildings starting to get dated and need some renovations done.
Before you visit Daydream Island remember you are visiting an island. The staff are brilliant, the food ranges from economical take away to more expensive restaurants. There is plenty to do from enjoying the winter sun on a banana lounge by the pool or at any of the four beaches or using the free equipment including a gym. There is also plenty motorised equipment at a reasonable price or visit the Great Barrier Reef and Whitehaven Beach
A wonderful place to stay. We had a fantastic time filled with many various activities. We were never at a loss for something to do. The staff were all friendly and willing to assist at all times. Special mention of Jarred Parkinson! The property is in great condition without any issues at all.
Only drawbacks were limited dining options, some shops not open at the south end (off season?), and guest beneath our room smoking on their balcony (smell of smoke into our room via open door).
Otherwise, we will definitely like to return...
Attending Daydream off-peak will appeal to many, but with the reduced visitation came a rotation of restaurants, effectively meaning little choice.
Breakfast became monotonous with the lack of variety suggesting 4/5 nights would be an ideal stay, but 6/7 nights too much.
The only suggestion for improvement I have is that the resort rooms may require an upgrade soon :-)
Very expensive and limited food. Close to none gluten free food and not able to just get a kids sandwich or healthy snacks at all
Resort starting to become a little tired.
Very pretty location.Room service very good, but noticed mould on my ceiling. This wouldn't have been any good for a person who suffers with asthma.Food in all ,quite expensive ,especially if you had a family of Four or more. All staff very helpful and the day spa was absolutely brilliant.Diana one of the Korean staff was very good and also a beautiful person.
Wonderful, helpful staff..... Clean and spacious room..... Fantastic food!
Although not brand new, Daydream Island Resort provides access to the beautiful Whitsundays and all they have to offer....Food options are a little restricted, but overall good quality. You will be asked at breakfast where you would like to book for dinner that night....which can be a bit annoying (seating times offered seemed to only be 5.30pm and 7.30pm) as there always seemed to be a group booked for the 6.30pm time slot (although we didn't ever see this mystery group appear)
Activities can be booked at the activities desk for day trips to Airlie Beach or other nearby islands.
A few different swimming pools to choose from with permanent shade structures and lounges everywhere (also on the beach)
Basic but comfortable rooms, with daily tidying up done be resort staff. Wi fi available in the atrium area and the accommodation located central to the atrium.
The Resort is very old and in need of renovation. Meals are very expensive and not good quality.
Had a great time, nice and relaxing, my only complaint would be that the meals were overpriced for what they were but otherwise loved it
Great place but to expensive in food and we had to pay for everything extra, also the opening times for services where not customer friendly.
The type of holiday is upto you, plenty of activities available if you want them or just sit back and relax. Stayed in Xmas peak holiday period value a little dear with privacy and space still achievable.
Arrival was great, rooms clean, dining experience was a letdown as 3 restaurants are advertised however, on first night only 1 was open with queues out the door and up the path. Main hall (atrium) not air conditioned, it was very humid and steamy to enjoy the basic entertainment so we went back to aircon room
Excellent resort. No air con in dining areas. Swim up bar shut at 5:00 when pool was full of people. Need more dining options.
The resort needs a total revamp very tired looking. There needs to be healthier options when it comes to food and more vegetarian options.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful which made it a lovely relaxing holiday. Thank you one and all
Just needs to have more entertainment for the kids, during the day and night, for all ages.
I find that there should be more activities for the kids, day and night entertainment. Had a 13 year old with us and he could not do much at all.
Cheaper snack foods or cheaper kids meals.I was concerned for my 4 year old daughter, having to pay $9 for a side order of vegetables!!!
Overall though, was very lovely.
All the staff and reception were very friendly and helpful.
I would also like to thank Virgin and Daydream island for the help they gave us in regards to my Husband's luggage. Sydney airport had complications with their luggage belt, and his luggage was delayed to arrive to Daydream.
They allowed him to buy just some essentials to get him through to the next 24 hrs and we also needed nappies for our Daughter and they took the cost off our bill.Thank you again.
The Island itself is beautiful but is it value for money, not sure! The restaurants were expensive and the eating choices limited. It was a very expensive holiday for a family. The staff were very friendly and pleasant.
A few buildings scattered in tropical gardens, over a wide area ,with three nice beaches, several pools and restaurants. Suitable for family with children as well as for couples. Enough space for everybody to enjoy without disturbing or being disturbed by others. Nice buffet for breakfast, good restaurants. Friendly wallabies and birds.
Thankyou for a wonderful stay. The staff were fantastic.
The staff from all areas of the resort were exceptional ....... The resort itself is tranquil and spacious at the same time. I will definitely come back in about 2 yrs after the renovations are completed.... My husband and I throughly enjoyed our time on daydream and would recommend it to anyone who would like to take their family young or old as there is plenty to do...one more thing I would like to add ......it might be a little expensive but people must realise that the resort has to pay for the freight to be delivered to the island. A big thank you to Daydream island ........
Nice view, friendly staff, but buffet breakfast at waterfalls not much variety.
Had trouble with first room but once we were moved to another room all was good.Food excellent staff wonderful could not fault anything.
Beautiful location and well maintained and presented roomy facilities. Disappointed in only two options each night for dinner, esp on the weekend we expected more options. Quite few things on the southern end of the island not open on the weekend.
After luggage being misplaced due to insufficient labeling by ferry transport, DDI staff were very helpful. Although it was not their error they went out of their way to make amends.
Overall, enjoyed our short stay.
learned so much about the reef and it's creatures
Only recommendations are that the Mermaids restaurant is open for dinner 7 nights a week (it was only open for 2 nights of our stay); as the other two alternatives are not comparable; also a least one pool (suggest the one with the "Splashes" bar) should be fitted with a handrail to enable people with a limited mobility to enter and exit the pool - my wife couldn't do so without me being around to assist.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 1 week on the Daydream island. It is peaceful, has two fantastic beaches, great service and good proximity to Great Barrier reef. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a relaxing break.
We absolutely loved our stay at daydream island! Staff were amazing. So many things to do...we are already planning our next trip to daydream...
Ignore the promised 'hype', and consistent indifference, to four star service in food and entertainment, its enjoyable as an island.
The Breakfast was very delicious with a great variety of foods and fruits.
Our grandchildren found lunch boring after a few days as we could not buy fresh fruit or vegetables . A takeaway outlet open all day would be good. All the rest of the Island was fantastic.
We would have liked another food outlet more vareity with more vegetables or even Sushi .
Breakfast was the highlight very good .
We had a very enjoyable three days at Daydream, only complaint we had was the food outlets, Pasta night expensive for the food available, no seafood , the Bakery was very popular so there was long queues, then out of the most popular foods.
Breakfast was very good. Rooms large, clean and very comfortable .
Highly recommend this resort for families - lots to do and see at the resort itself and of course on nearby islands/reefs of the Whitsundays. Our kids particularly enjoyed the living reef and all of the tours associated with the reef (the marine biologists were very informative and engaging). In addition, the mini golf, outdoor cinema, many pools and spas were a bit hit with our family. There are several dining options to choose from which is great (including casual bbqs for some lunches/dinners) - our only complaint would be the staff in the food/beverage outlets seemed very disinterested (and loudly complained about the hours they worked)and the service was lacking, except for Mermaids restaurant which had been recently refurbished and we could not fault the food or staff here, it was exceptional. We had a garden balcony room which exceeded our expectations (I had read some worrying reviews) and the resort appeared well maintained on the whole (although it's time for new beach towels!). We did not use the Kids Club (Skippers club) as it appeared to be not much more than a creche (and was very pricey), however they were also running a School Holiday program for kids during our stay which was more affordable and offered mainly outdoor activities at various locations around the resort (snorkeling in the pool, fish feeding at Lovers Cove, games etc). There is not much to do in the evening if the outdoor cinema isn't running - the main bar is indoors and lacks any ambience. The wildlife was also a highlight for the kids - wallabies, kangaroos, cockatoos, lizards (however be warned, the curlews are extremely loud at night). Overall, we had a very relaxing and enjoyable 7 nights here.
Fantastic location for families, food a bit expensive, lots of activities to keep us busy, very relaxing
We all enjoyed the beautiful paradise of Daydream island. Great for families. Good food but a bit expensive.
Everything was fine except not enough options for dining at night. Buffet every night not every ones option. Only other fine dining open was booked out .
Great time, plenty to do. Had a go at everything and didn't have to wait too long. Good selection of food possibly a little over priced.
Just came home from a 7 day stay at DDI. Overall had a wonderful time. The Island itself is gorgeous and facilities were good. Negatives: not enough options for dining, particularly at night. Mermaids restaurant was really nice and we would have happily dined there every night but unless you got in early you missed the boat and had no other option but to dine at the Waterfalls buffet. I'm not a big eater at night and found I wasn't getting value for money paying $50 for an entire buffet when all I wanted was an entree size meal. If there were more options for dining I think this would really make a massive difference for people staying on the Island. Weather was lovely - mid 20's - but the pools were FREEZING!!! So maybe a bit of solar heating would make swimming a bit more enjoyable. The positives: staff were lovely, accommodating and a credit to the Island! There was a tall dark haired man who worked at Waterfalls reception area - sorry, not sure of his name - but he was just fantastic! Great customer service skills! As were a lot of your waitresses, really sweet kids :) The water sports were good, a few more activities would have been good to encourage socialising if that's what you're into, but we were there off-peak so I understand you may not always get the numbers. Gym was sufficient - a few more free weights would have been nice but there was enough to get the job done. Rooms were spacious, clean and well serviced. We would definitely come back and recommend the Island to friends as a holiday destination. We were sad when our holiday came to an end. I was a bit apprehensive about what we were going to get after reading some of the reviews but all in all we were pleasantly surprised.
My son was married on daydream on the 12th Sep , everything was perfect . The staff on the island are fantastic friendly and helpful. The room was superb very comfortable . There is so much to see and do on the island . The service was excellent . Would recommend daydream resort and spa to anyone wanting a stress free relaxing holiday
Beautiful Island, really well kept and great basic facilities, however rather expensive if wish to do some paid activities. Rooms are lovely and clean, bar staff need some help with customer service. Eating is also rather expensive.
We enjoyed our stay on Daydream Island. Loved the fish in the lagoon and got to feed a stingray.
we had a wonderful time at a very beautiful place.
the island was really great and beautiful, it was a very family friendly island with lots of activities for young kids to do with their parents.
The view from the Coral view room was great. A few Mosquitos as expected but did not know reception had spray we could use. If there is an active family upstairs you can here them running/ jumping so request a room on the third floor if you are looking for a romantic getaway otherwise turn up the tv or bring your family. Very helpful staff, great tours and food always fresh. Lots to occupy families and other islands close by to explore.
A beautiful location with fantastic staff. The grounds are immaculate and the Living Reef provides an "up close and personal" look at all things related to a coral reef. Fantastic. Unfortunately the resort buildings are looking a little tired and run down but now that it has been bought by a Chinese Consortium things should improve. Food quality reasonable but very difficult to obtain on some nights. Mermaid's was booked out and the Resort restaurant was closed. Only place was The Fish Bowl which had a minimal menu on offer. Night time entertainment almost non existent. Be prepared to be in bed by 9.00pm!
Overall it was great. If they can include bit of different menus for breakfast everyday. We missed omelette.
Very pleasant.
Great holiday, great accommodation
loved the variety of things to do including a chance to relax, fantastic snorkelling spot, will definitely return back again
A great holiday.
We had a fantastic 6 days of weather and fun at the resort. Resort facilities were excellent, rooms were very good, staff was wonderful. Reef and tours we did were outstanding. Food needs a bit of work but it was ok. Would definitely come back.
Daydream Island is a relaxed and friendly place to have a holiday. Kids will love it. So much to do or do nothing at all.
Every time I go to DDI I love it a little bit more. The location is amazing and the staff always go that extra mile to make each trip memorable.
Very lovely island with stunning scenery.
Staff were very friendly and attentive whether on or off duty.
First class holiday destination. Beautiful island, very friendly staff, a lot to enjoy.
Planning our next return already!
Wished we could have stayed longer.
Staff were fabulous. Large pool area surrounded by beautiful gardens. Great place for a wonderful relaxing holiday. Loved the cinema and fish.
Location great, 3 large pools, Hotel staff always ready to help, the only down side needs more variety food for call and collect, overall had a relaxing time.
Highly recommend the stingray splash tour. It was amazing.
Great and beautiful part of the world. We are so lucky!!! Great family destination. Heaps to do and experience. Get cheap flights to Hamilton and it is a very economical holiday.
Everyone had a great time and we recommend it as a family location
well maintained property
I would recommend this holiday to every one
We are a couple with a 7m old baby and had such an amazing week on the Island. Lots of activities to keep us occupied, and lots of space to relax when we wanted to. Staff were always very friendly and helpful. Obviously more expensive than the mainland, but prices are competitive compared with other islands. We want to take the whole family back next time!!
Felt so welcome and invited, rooms were immaculate and service was phenomenal. Food was delicious, and staff were super friendly. Loved it!
Small enough to walk everywhere and golf buggy service for those who wish to get a lift. We had 3 generations holidaying and there was something for everyone.
a great place, I will return.
I was a bit concerned after booking daydream and reading some of the reviews online, but I was pleasantly surprised. The island is just gorgeous, the facilities were kept really really well, the food was good. The only mild negatives were the restrictions on eating times and options but really all the food I ate was scrumptious. There is no night life there so I think they should invest in putting a DVD player in each room or TV that has good signal so there is something to do at night. I thought the price of hiring a DVD player to be a bit excessive.
Overall I would definitely recommend this as a holiday destination to family and friends.
Family had a great time and would go back.
Perfect, thanks so much!!!
The Island was amazing - we had such a great stay. The food was beautiful, people friendly, surroundings were absolutely ideal. We will definitely visit again.
First stay at Daydream Island and was a great choice for the kids (3 and 5). They loveed the pools and getting up close a personal with the live oceans on the resort. Rooms are basic but very clean (daily) but probably need a little update soon. While our kids ate free for b/fast and dinner prices are what you expect on an island... a little on the high side. Overall, to see the kids enjoy themselves means we enjoyed ourselves. Staff were great and always helpful/friendly.
loved our stay on Daydream. This was our second visit and we will definitely be back. We had lots of activities to do with the kids and lots of time to kick back and relax. Really loved the fish feeding tour and the beautifully pristine pools. And how could you not love the spa, I really enjoyed the different activities there and even managed to fit in a beautiful massage with amazing views.
We travelled with 2 tweens and have been to Daydream twice now and were not disappointed. The rooms are simple and clean. The food although pricey was always fresh and delicious. The mini golf was fab and the water activities fun. The weather was glorious and the many pool areas are great with plenty of room even if the resort is full. Snorkelling at lovers cove is awesome but disappointing when closed on 3 of our 4 days for weddings. We had a ball and recommend it to families looking for a clean comfortable (not luxury) location and a relaxing holiday with lots of things for the kids.
Great resort for all ages
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The facilities and food were very nice and the service above average. I would recommend a holiday in this paradise to anyone.
One of the best relaxing holidays yet
Friendly staff, our accomodation overlooking the ocean awesome, weather perfect, food enjoyable,Spa a must do,so relaxing, caters for all age group, lots to do or just chill....Perfect time out.
Did enjoy Island , but would have liked a beach or place to go that was kids free. Just as we were about to relax a family with screaming kids would turn up. they do have a place in the restaurant for adults only which was busy all the time so that makes me feel there is a call for it on the island.
nice to stay at the resort. staff are accomodating.
Fabulous location. enough options on things to do. So easy to get too - just a ferry transfer from Hamilton Island.LOVED the spa for some pampering. I was concerned as it is advertised as a family location, but when we went there it was perfect. Wouldn't want to be travelling there for a romantic retreat during school holidays though! Food was great. Seemed overpriced at first, but quality was excellent. On Daydream the food was of much better quality and therefore value than when I went out for dinner at Airlie beach. There could have had more activities for when it was windy and watersports were not running. I will be back! Hopefully when it is not as windy.
Not peak season so not all dining options available.
food expensive but reasonable quality.
Suggest taking own supply of snacks for the room unless you want to spend big on mini bar.
Perfect for a quiet getaway, not for you if you if you want lots of night life options.
Daydream Island is very relaxing and peaceful island with in the Whitsundays. My fiancé and I have visited the island twice now and will definitely be returning. The only downside was the Mermaids restaurant was a little slow with serving the food. Although the service was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for anyway wanting to escape the real world.
Daydream is a great place to stay this was our fourth visit to the island and we will be going back again. it is reasonably easy for us to travel there and it is a place where you can do as much as or as little you want , we loved every bit of it ,nice part of the world
A perfect holiday destination to enjoy our winter in a warmer climate.
Beautiful weather and great location. Met some lovely people as well.
We have just returned from a week on this island with our family of 2 adults and 2 children aged 7 and 8 years. The island was absolutely beautiful and the staff were extremely helpful and catered well for the vegetarians in our family. We were extremely happy with our interconnecting family bedrooms - we had a king size bed and our 2 girls had a queen bed each in their room. Everything on the island is immaculate. Did not want to leave!
Had a great holiday only wish I had more time to spend and see more of the reef and other islands
The island was beautifully maintained.
Dining options were at times confusing and frustrating. There really needs to be one dining option open each day from 7am through to 7pm, as there are times during the day where you cannot purchase any food/drink!
The 'Bali Boys' provided fantastic live entertainment in the Lagoon Bar whilst I stayed.
Pool temperature was slightly too cool, which meant nobody really sat at the swim up bar. If the water was slightly warmer I think this would be beneficial.
Louise, the marine biologist, was fantastic at her job. She gave a great talk during the Fish Feed and we thoroughly enjoyed.
Would stay again :)
A great spot to relax and unwind. As it was a quiet time when we were here there weren't many eating options as they had the fishbowl and Gillian's bar closed. There were basically only two options a BBQ, which was very overpriced, and a restaurant. The restaurant was great but after 4 nights it does become a bit pricey. Overall though a good place to unwind.
Holiday was better than I anticipated. Complex was highly organised with motivated staff. Picture perfect scenery and surrounds. Would recommend Daydream Island as holiday destination.
Great !!
Great location. Value for money. The staff were second to none. Accomodation was excellent.
Excellent
We had forgotten how beautiful our own back yard is, what a fabulous package to reconnect with the Whitsunday area.
We really enjoyed our stay at Daydream Island even in cyclone conditions. Staff were fantastic, they couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome and entertained. Bali Boys were amazing, kept us entertained with their music. The food was amazing. The Island is great for families. Would love to come back.
the staff were excellent - nothing was a problem. we would return for another relaxing holiday.
We had a weekend getaway to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was very relaxing and great atmosphere. We went in low peak season and as a result the resort was quite empty - which meant some activities / stores weren't open etc.
We had an amazing time. The trade-off for going in the quiet time was that the food and drink options were limited. I was very impressed that prices were the same as back home. I thought for sure the Island would be more expensive.
Very relaxing and just what we needed time togerther with my partner. The room has spectacula views but where very dated. overall a great place to relax, eat and drink
Very relaxing plus there is lots of awesome stuff to do, and plenty of free activities, we had a great honeymoon
Excellent! a great place &really enjoyed our stay, even for us over 65yrs
Early December was a great time to go. Everything was perfect. It is a great place for young families. The staff were great and made it more enjoyable. Food is always dearer on islands, Daydream was on par and not that bad really.
We had a great time and would go there again . The accomodation was lovely with a wonderful view . Activities available we're expensive but worth it . Facilities such as pools and gardens were very well maintained .
Great to chill out for 3-5 days.
We took the kids to daydream back in 2005 ,
loved it so much we came back in 2008 both times getting the upgrade & staying in the daydreamer suit overlooking lovers cove (a much better room then the standard rooms)
We all had a fantastic time ,Kids had a ball great while the swim up bar/cocktails at happy hr only $8-$9 GREAT .
No extra charge for non motorised activities at the time (hopefully this hasn't changed)mini golf, wind surfing, snorkelling, open air cinema with a buggy ride for the kids, shark feeding, trivia nights we even tried aqua aerobics all free....
The Staff we found friendly and the food at the time was above average,Sydney or Melbourne food prices dinner $60-$150 per night for a family of 4,depending on your cuisine choice.
Have a look at the booklet, take 15min & read the history of the Island going back to the days of Errol Flynn.
Would still go back.
Very happy with everything.
Wonderful room, lovely surrounds and no asian tourists. excellant
Had the time of our life's and kids loved it
excellent
This resort runs very efficently with staff ready to help and constantly maintaining cleanliness. Small problems with the bathroom and air conditioning were readily put right. The activitys kept us going for two weeks. It should be made clear that SCUBA diving is not available actually on Daydream anymore, only for pickup to the outer reef. We enjoyed the variety of eating venues and found the quality very good.
Had a great time at the resort, the location is stunning.
It would have been good to have more options for dinner (there were only two places to go in the evening) but that was the only down-side.
Would recommend for families as lots of activities for kids/teens and the Kids Club was good for the younger ones.
We have a great time - it was easy travelling. Being school holidays it was busy and the spa and reef trips were booked out when we arrived, however there was still plenty to do without spending the extra money. The meals were great and especially good value for teenagers 14 and under.
It was a beautiful, beautiful place!
Rooms are a little dated but very clean. Lovely staff all round great place.
Stunning scenery. Great staff who go out of their way to ensure you have an enjoyable holiday.
Feel very refreshed after staying here and would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone thinking of staying here.
Our experiance on Day dream Island was great. Beautiful location and plenty to do, or nothing to do, up to you. Only disapointment was probably the bed in our room, far to soft and due for an upgrade. But overal a great trip away, thank you
This holiday was the most amazing way to celebrate our 20th anniversary! We highly recommend this holiday!
Amazing Holiday - the whole family ( inc 5 kids aged 9 - 14) loved it. More than we could have ever hoped for. Staff were amazing. Also, dealt with food allergies in the most amazing manner and nothing was too much trouble.
Food quality not excellent but OK, bit pricey for what you get. Lovely staff and very good customer service always very happy to help. Kids loved it especially the GBR and the living reef ranger tour on the island.
Beautiful location, lots of wildlife - cockatoos, sealife, and wallabies. The weather was superb. Stunning well maintained gardens.
The rooms were well equipped and tidy.
Plenty of activities to keep children occupied.
Overall we had a fantastic relaxing holiday!
What a great place to stay, whether as a couple or as a family. You can spend as much as you like on many different activities, or spend nothing and just do the many free activities, there is so much to offer. Wonderful service, happy, helpful staff.
Daydream is a small resort and is a good place to relax. If you are active and don't have money to spend you may not find enough activities. Day tours to the reef, Whitehaven beach excursions, and even transfers to the mainland all cost quite a bit, especially if you are with a family and on a budget.
All facilities were great. Service from staff was impeccable, food delicious, rooms spacious and spotless. Would not hesitate to recommend Daydream Island Resort and Spa.
Very nice resort, relaxing++++ heaps to do if you want. Food very good. Reasonably priced. Friendly staff nothing too much trouble!
Dining & drinking is expensive, but a beautiful place to stay with great customer service.
very good stay, value for money.
This was our first time to daydream island. The weather was not the best for 4 of the 5 days so unfortunately there was not much to do. The food was amazing in all restaurants and the staff were all very friendly.
Excellent time - rooms huge, staff extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble any time. Food was plentiful and well-cooked and the whole island was very well looked after. Ground staff working all the time to clean up after the birds and to see the cockatoos and wallalbies being allowed to be part of it was really good. The pools were excellent with enough space for a swimmer not to intrude on kids or couples. We will be going back at some stage.
Enjoyed our stay. Plenty for the kids to do. They enjoyed the fish feeding and holding some of the marine animals. The food was great.
Overall good family holiday - perfect for kids.
Dining - very good and very bad depending on which place you went to. Mermaids - food very good, but service slow (understaffed - staff worked hard)
Fish Bowl - food and service very poor.
Buffet - one good night, one average.
Overall service mixed. 50% of staff friendly and helpful - really great. Others provided very poor level of service, rude at times and clearly unhappy. Understaffed in all restaurants. Activities counter - most staff fantastic, one with attitude. Splashes - one refused to serve us 10 min before close as she was packing up. Next day - different girl, friendly happy - what you expect in a resort.
Overall it was a nice break - but could have been better with some staff learning about customer service and what tourism is about!
We had perfect weather so it was a wonderful place to be. Exceptional views from our ocean balcony room. Buffet meals at times were a little dear, but the variety of food was excellent.
A tropical paradise, we went to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and was made to feel very special everyone made our stay at Daydream one we will never forget. Special thanks to Norm (assist manager),John (activities desk), Thomas (porter), Adrian @ Amber (activities) - friendly helpful staff who were always happy to help
Had a good time despite poor weather
Whole experience was great
We enjoyed our stay at Daydream.
The only down fall for us was the price of drinks and the food.
The price of a can of mixed drinks was way over the top. The food was the same.
Which has changed our minds for going back with the kids.
The one thing I did get a little put off by and found anouying was the amount of little children there, alot of crying whining kids I would think Hamilton Island would be more appropriate for the families of small children, so I think as a romantic retreat its a put off when you see them advertise \"kids stay eat for free\".
Had a wonderful week on the island, good food, great activities and friendly staff. Cater for couples with Adults only dining options. Lovely rooms serviced daily. Relaxing and a great holiday.
best holiday have had in years
My partner & I really did enjoy our stay- the activities during the day were great, & the staff were extremely helpful & polite at all times.
However I do have a few negative comments-
the cost of food & drinks on the island is a little bit extreme; we both wondered how families could afford the prices when we barely could. If the resort lowered the prices on food & drinks im sure they would attract more people and have an even better review.
The other thing we were disappointed with was the night time activities. There really was nothing for the guests to do we found ourselves heading straight back to our rooms after diner, bored beyond belief and watching T.V. We would've like to have seen something like a dance class or a trivia night.
But beside from those two negative things we did enjoy our stay; our room was lovely & like I said the day time activities were sensational. But I don't think we will be returning again anytime soon; unless its just a day trip.
I found it to be very overpriced, I mean it was costing us $100 for dinner every night and they dont have all places open, lunch was costing us $80 a day as well, I would recommend to couples but not families.
Would like more choice of menu, drinks and food was quit expensive but very good quality.
Totally enjoyed the 5 nights we spent at daydream
Overall I have rated as Average. What I found quite poor was the cost of added extras which should be free. Mini Golf is $50 for 3 family rounds for example. Late checkout is $20 per hour and they were nowhere near full. $20 to hire snorkle and flippers. The final insult is to pay over 3% for AMEX merchant service fee or about 1.50% for MC/VISA when paying final bill. No wonder so many Aussies go to Fiji!
Enjoyed a wonderful 3 night stay in May, now looking at dates for a return visit.
