Hot on the heels of that romantic holiday, Valentine's Day, Tourism Fiji has announced a new wedding expo is to be held in March, showcasing more than 50 products and services specialising in Fiji weddings. Last Thursday, over 60 industry representatives met in Namaka at the Tourism Fiji Head Office to be briefed on the inaugural Tourism Fiji Wedding Expo.
The tourism body received an enthusiastic response from industry participants who came from a diverse range of backgrounds to offer a wide variety of wedding products and services especially for Fiji. The new Wedding Expo aims to offer bridal parties the opportunity to research and plan all the finer details for their entire wedding. From hair and make up to flower bouquets, photographers and cakes all in one event.
Giving soon-to-be-weds the opportunity to meet with so many suppliers face-to-face in air conditioned comfort is a feat rarely able to be achieved by brides to be and is a concept that many have welcomed. It's also a great opportunity for suppliers to network within their own industry and showcase products that are tailor made for the Fiji wedding market.
The Fiji Wedding Expo is scheduled to be held 19-20 March at Shangri-La's Fijian Resort and Spa. Open to the public, the expo is free to attend and targets both Fiji-based and international bridal parties. Weddings in Fiji continue to increase in popularity, largely due to its proximity to Australia and relatively affordable options.
The allure of romance in the tropics and the convenience of being able to combine your wedding and honeymoon are big drawcards for Australian couples who wish to tie the knot in Fiji. Couples also report that weddings in Fiji are a far more intimate and enjoyable affair, with the travel required helping to pare back the guest list.
