Located in the South Pacific, Fiji is approximately 3-4 hours by plane from Australia's east coast. Getting to Fiji is easy and affordable thanks to a great range of cheap flights offered by major airlines such as Fiji Airways and Virgin Australia. Direct flights are available departing from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, with connecting flights operating out of most Australian cities.
The easiest way to get from the airport to your accommodation is by pre-arranged transfer. Flights to Fiji arrive at Nadi International Airport, with taxis and shuttle transfers available from the airport to your resort. Although clearing airport customs and immigration usually only takes around 30 minutes, it is advised that you allow 1 hour between the time your flight arrives and the time you schedule to be picked up for your transfer. Transfers are only operated at limited times throughout the day and if your flight arrives after the last transfer departs or you miss your transfer, you will have to spend the night in nearby Denarau.
Located on the main island of Viti Levi, Denarau is the closest resort accommodation and just a 20-minute drive south of the Nadi International Airport along Queens Highway. If you don't plan on hiring a car, coach transfers are also available however the trip to Denarau can take up to an hour due to stops along the way. For those transferring to the outer islands, Denarau Marina is the launch point for water transfers and is a short and well-signed route.
Located southeast of Nadi, getting to the Coral Coast can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours depending on where you're staying. Shangri-La Yanuca Island, Fiji is just 45 minutes from the airport via private car transfer while the Fiji Hideaway Resort & Spa is around 1 hour and 15 minutes away. Sigatoka and resorts such as Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort, The Naviti Resort and The Warwick Fiji take approximately 1 hour 30 minutes and 1 hour 45 minutes respectively. Private car transfers are recommended for getting to the Coral Coast as coach transfers can easily add another 30-45 minutes to your trip.
Located off the west coast of the main island of Viti Levu, the Mamanuca Islands can be reached by launch transfer, water taxi and the Malolo Cat. Upon arriving at the airport, you will make the 20-minute trip to the Denarau Marina, ensuring you arrive 25 minutes before your launch transfer. Launch transfers from the Denarau Marina to the Mamanuca Islands take approximately 2 hours and depart regularly throughout the day.
It's recommended that you arrange your transfers when booking your flights and accommodation to ensure you have enough time to make your transfer. Many transfers offer a meet and greet with launch transfer check-in at Nadi Airport before boarding a coach for direct transit to Denarau Marina where your launch transfer will depart. Transfers are also available from Nadi, Coral Coast and Denarau hotels.
For customers transferring to the Mamanuca Islands from a Denarau resort, transfer pick up from the resort will be 45 minutes before your Marina departure. Customers transferring from a Coral Coast resort need to allow up to 2 hours prior to the launch departure to make their way to the Denarau Marina.
If your flight arrives after the last transfer of the day, you can choose to spend the night in Denarau before transferring to the islands the next day. You also have the option to hire a private water taxi to your resort at an additional expense. Seaplane and helicopter transfers may also be available depending on the time and day.
