Located just over 9km southeast of Port Headland and 11km from South Headland, the Port Headland International Airport is an airport serving the Western Australia region of Port Headland. A gateway to the mining boom industry of the Pilbara region, the airport has recently undergone important upgrades including extensions to existing taxiways, the construction of a new taxiway, widening of intersections, new lighting and extended domestic and international arrival and departure areas. Servicing approximately 450,000 passengers annually, the airport operates almost 70 flights per week. Located right on the Great Northern Highway, the Port Headland Airport is just 7 minutes by car from South Headland and Port Headland.
Port Headland Airport is home to a number of air carriers including Airnorth which operates flights to Broome, Darwin and Karratha, Qantas which operates flights to Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth, QantasLink which also operates flights to Perth, Virgin Australia which operates flights to Perth and Virgin Australia Regional Airlines which operates flights to Broome, Geraldton, Karratha, Perth and Denpasar in Bali. The airport also offers a range of facilities and services including ATMs, public phones, a parent's room and a licensed café. For the convenience of passengers, the airport is also home to bus and taxi services as well as a number of car rental companies including Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Thrifty, Raw Hire and Northwest Rentals.
There are also short and long term parking options located at the Port Headland Airport for those passengers who prefer to transport themselves. The short term car park is closest to the terminal and is free for the first 30 minutes and is then charged at $2 per hour thereafter while the long term car park is located farthest from the terminal and is charged at $15 per day with a 10% discount offered for stays of more than 7 days.
