Located near Chevron Island in Surfers Paradise, the Gold Coast Arts Centre is a leading cultural facility the offers South East Queensland a wide range of visual and performing arts. The complex is home to arts theatres, art galleries, two cinemas and a café as well as a number of beautiful function rooms, a chapel and two smaller performance areas.
The two theatres host a wonderful range of shows including music, dance, comedy and drama. The main arts theatre has seats for up to 1,200 people and is used for large theatre productions. The second theatre is known as 'The Space' and is a smaller venue that only seats 100 people and is used for workshops, talk and other more intimate shows.
There are three spacious art galleries and exhibitions are constantly changing, offering new works to see. The galleries frequently host a number of free social events, workshops and talks including lectures on design, art and architecture. Visitors wishing to attend these complimentary events are required to register their interest prior to attending.
The Basement is an adults only evening venue that offers comedy nights on Fridays with Saturday nights usually centred around music and dance such as jazz nights, cabaret and burlesque nights. Dinner and show packages are available with the bar opening at 6.30pm and shows kicking off from around 7.30-8.00pm
The Paradise Showroom is another night time venue offering a bar and bistro in an intimate atmosphere that hosts blues and jazz nights, game and quiz nights, magic acts, performances by the Philharmonic Orchestra and talks and workshops on a variety of topics including food and wine or gardening.
The Gold Coast Arts Centre is also home to a full bar and restaurant serving breakfast, snacks and dinner as well as cold drinks, coffee and cakes. There are two spacious terraces to hang out on while you're visiting the centre and are a great place to catch up with friends.
