Located on the border of Queensland and New South Wales, getting to Coolangatta is easy thanks to its popularity as a holiday destination and therefore accessible nature. The region offers a number of transport options both in and around town as well as a nearby airport. Getting to Coolangatta by car is an easy drive on the Pacific Motorway approximately an hour and a half south of Brisbane and just over an hour north of Ballina.
If you're visiting from overseas or interstate and intend on flying into the Gold Coast, the airport is conveniently located just minutes from Coolangatta, just off the Gold Coast Highway along Musgrave Street. There are a number of carries offering direct flights in and out of the Gold Coast including Jetstar, Tiger Airways, Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand.
Arriving at the Gold Coast Airport, a centrally located information desk offers assistance with any ongoing transport options you may require including transfers, shuttles, car hire and taxis. Offering door-to-door pick ups and drop offs between the airport and nearby Coolangatta accommodation, a regular shuttle service operates out of the airport.
For an even more affordable way of getting to Coolangatta, you can't go past the local bus services that operate from the airport to Marine Parade and Griffith Street in Coolangatta as well as further north through Currumbin, Palm Beach and Varsity Lakes all the way through to Robina. Departing daily from the airport, the 761 route takes approximately 15 minutes to reach central Coolangatta. There are also taxis available from outside the terminal that will take you directly to your accommodation.
Car hire is also a great option, particularly if you intend on exploring other parts of the Gold Coast while visiting Coolangatta. A number of rental companies offer car hire from the terminal and you can choose to either pre-book your vehicle prior to arrival or shop around for the best deal on the day.
