Great Barrier Reef Adventure

Aussie woman says YES during the world's first scUber experience

Canadian man, Justin McIntaggart popped the question to his girlfriend of 5 years, Kate Hartberg in the world's first scUber submersible at the Great Barrier Reef.

The couple were among 6 other lucky people who won a spot to take part in the world's first rideshare submarine.

In partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland, scUber will be running from May 27 to June 18.

The once-in-a lifetime experience will provide riders with an up close and personal view of the majestic Great Barrier Reef's diverse coral and marine life.

The 29-year old barber shop owner from Canada took out the prize from a pool of 152,000 entrance all vying for the ultimate Great Barrier Reef experience. He never imaged he would win, let alone getting the opportunity to propose in such an extravagant and romantic way.

The lucky lady, Kate Hartberg is originally from Burleigh Heads, Queensland. The couple met five years ago in Canada when Kate was on a working holiday in Banff, Alberta.

Five years later the couple returned to Kate's home country for a breathtakingly special moment in their relationship.

Back on land, Katie said, "Wow, I am speechless! What a beautiful surprise," said Hartberg after the proposal. "Justin and I both adore the ocean, and riding in the scUber submarine was already a pinch-myself moment, but I really couldn't believe my eyes when Justin got down on one knee,

"We were in this magnificent bubble, surrounded by stunning coral and the most bright, colourful marine life. It was just perfect, and extra special to share this moment in my home country, she said."

The newly engaged love birds will celebrate their engagement exploring the beautiful Daintree Rainforest and touring around Cairns before planning their upcoming wedding.

Available for bookings until 18 June, 2019, the scUber experience includes return transfers from your hotel or resort, a helicopter ride over the amazing Agincourt Reef and a one-hour scUber experience. The one of a kind experience costs $3000 per couple.
