Queenstown Ski

Famous as a leisure and adventure playground, Queenstown is the Southern Hemisphere's greatest four season alpine and lake resort. Although it is a popular holiday destination year-round, it springs to life in winter with the start of the snow season. At its most popular in winter, Queenstown has a reputation for offering the best skiing and snowboarding in the whole of New Zealand. Queenstown is a winter playground famous for its snowboarding and skiing thanks to the fantastic range of ski fields located less than an hours' drive from the city. Boasting world-class skiing, snowboarding and winter sports, the most popular Queenstown ski fields include Coronet Peak, Cardrona, Treble Cone and The Remarkables. Just 20 minutes from the city, Coronet Peak offers some of New Zealand's longest opening hours and offers 280 hectares of diverse skiing terrain. Renowned as the best family friendly ski field in New Zealand, The Remarkables are just 40 minutes from the city and offers some of the country's best learning facilities. Just under an hour from Queenstown, Cardrona offers world class pipes and parks as well as some of the country's best learning facilities for kids. Nearby Treble Cone is renowned as the largest ski area in the South Island and was also voted best ski area for two consecutive years by the World Ski Awards.

How To Get There

Departing from Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth there are a number of flights to Queenstown available with Air New Zealand, Virgin Australia, Qantas and Jetstar. Getting to New Zealand's ski fields is easy, with a number of transfer options available as well as the ability to self-drive if you're hiring a car. To visit Coronet Peak, drive from Queenstown and take Gorge Road for approximately 5km then turn right onto Arthurs Point Road, following it for 2 km before turning left onto Skippers Road. Follow Skippers Road for about 5km before merging onto Coronet Peak Road where after 4km you will arrive at the Coronet Peak Ski Area. To visit The Remarkables, take State Highway 6A for approximately 6.5km before continuing on to State Highway 6 at the roundabout. Follow Highway 6 for 4km before turning left and driving 13.5km, arriving at The Remarkables Ski Area.
