Harris Mountains Heli-Ski

Features

Helicopter Meals

Overview

Sign up for the ultimate snow experience with Harris Mountains Heli-Ski. Operating in Queenstown, Wanaka and Mount Cook, Harris Mountains Heli-Ski take skiers and snow boarders of strong intermediate to expert ability level, into the heart of the Southern Alps along exclusive terrain and stunning scenery.

Once your head guide has checked the weather conditions and given the all clear for the day, Harris Mountains Heli-Ski will collect you from your accommodation in Queenstown or Wanaka in the morning and take you to their staging area for a safety briefing. The safety briefing covers avalanche transceivers, helicopter and mountain safety and is also an opportunity to meet your fellow heli-skiers, professionally trained pilot and certified guide, so you know you'll be in safe hands.

Then your unforgettable snow adventure begins! Escape the chairlift and fly over incredible mountain tops to your first location of treeless skiing in sheltered basins, bowls or wide rolling mountain flanks. Share your morning experience with other heli-ski groups for an alpine buffet lunch, before hitting the slips again for more heli-ski runs. The day ends with a return transfer from the staging area to your accommodation.

Itinerary Options

Heli-Ski Experience 4 Run Day: This option is for the more experienced skiers and snow boarders, where more advanced terrain is selected. Runs vary between 1500-2500 ft of treeless skiing. Suitable to strong intermediate to expert ability skiers and boarders

  • Fully-qualified, certified mountain specialist heli-ski guide
  • Avalanche transceiver and training on transceiver use

Departures

It is recommended to book your heli-ski well in advance, and to select a date early during your travel in case rescheduling occurs due to weather conditions.

Early in the morning, the Harris Mountains Heli-Ski Head Guide will evaluate the snow and weather information and decide if conditions are suitable for heli-skiing to operate. If weather conditions preclude flying, you can reschedule to the next day.
