Recently renovated, this Queensland Island is located just 30 minutes by ferry transfer from Hamilton Island Airport and Port of Airlie in Airlie Beach, and is the only resort on the island. Great for families, couples and honeymooners, you'll feel like you've truly escaped the daily grind while visiting Daydream Island Resort.
Daydream Island Resort features a range of beautifully styled rooms and suites, each creating a relaxed, beachy atmosphere as you enter. Most rooms offer either a terrace or balcony with views of the resort gardens, pool or the Coral Sea as well as air-conditioning, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities and free WiFi. Accessible rooms are available on request basis.
A stunning feature not to be missed during your stay on Daydream Island is the open-air aquarium, the Living Reef. The daily public fish feeding provides a brief introduction to this coral lagoon, and then you can get up close to the fantastic marine life with a guided snorkel tour, Stingray Splash or Reef Rangers program for kids. The underwater observatory is great for those not wanting to get their feet wet.
Taste local and delicious produce at one of the three restaurants on the island, or grab a refreshing drink at one of the two bars. A transit lounge is available for your arrival and departure, as well as a lobby shop, activities tour desk specialising in tours on and off the island, swimming pools and babysitting services. The Living Reef is a man-made coral lagoon at Daydream Island Resort. It holds over 100 species of marine life and includes above-ground lagoon pools as well as an underwater observatory. Guests can experience the stingrays, fish feeding and even snorkel in the lagoon on one of the many paid activities. Cockatoo Club: Offering morning and afternoon sessions, the kids club features a changing program, tailored to suit the ages of attending children. Activities may include wildlife experiences, beach sports, kite making and arts and crafts. The Kids Club is available at an additional charge for children aged 4 - 12 years.

Friendly staff, amazing location
We took our 8 month old and 2 year old kids on holidays to Daydream island and had the best holiday there. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the food was amazing and view of the harbour from our room was stunning. We loved the living reef (amazing for kids), the kids eat free meals, buffet breakfast and pools. Lovers cove was beautiful. The only thing was the pillows in the room weren't very comfortable, but not an issue. Also curious about the southern end of the island which has shops all boarded up and no one really goes down there, bit like a ghost town especially compared to the busy main part of the island. It would be lovely to see it restored to it's former glory. It would also be great to have a bakery or something for lighter meals/snacks for kids, as that's definitely a gap in the food options. Otherwise amazing place, we will definitely be back!

The ultimate relax holiday
This place was great! We stayed for 7 days in March 2025. Although we didn't need 7 days in total there, we were forced to relax (which we both needed). We did Whitehaven beach through ocean rafting and the visit to the GBR including a helicopter flight over the heart reef. The one downside of daydream island was lack of snacks. I suggest taking snacky foods for your stay as the options for snacky foods are extremely limited.
Big shoutout to our new friends Dave and Ciara, who absolutely had our trip that extra bit great.
