Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas Reviews

Great place to stay in Port Douglas. Was a bit expensive if you have to buy lunch, dinner etc. But all food was great.

I would rate this place a solid 4. It was very nice, clean and well kept.
There is so much space here and I feel they could utilise it by adding a laundry, resort wear shop and a convenience shop would be great but all in all a pleasant stay and a good location

My wife and I spent our first Wedding Anniversary at the resort!
Absolutely an anniversary we won’t forget, the resort exceeded our expectations.
We will return!!!

Relaxing stay. Big comfortable room. Lovely furnishing. Very spacious hotel easy ro find oen space. Saltwater amd freshwater Pools are sensational. Used gym and swam laps daily. Beach walk into town very easy. Buffet breakfast was a standout. Plus loved the lobby and piano player. Photography around hotel is great.

I cannot fault the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort at Port Douglas - I stayed with my sister and our 82 year old mother and we all had a relaxing time.

The only problem we came across was when our elderly mother had to get in and out of the shower as the bathroom we had had two steps up into the bath/shower and then a step into the bath/shower. This was a problem for our mother however we were able to help her in and out of the shower. Also the floor of the bath/shower was rather slippery however we also solved that problem by placing a damp town on the floor of the bath/shower.

So if you are unstable on your feet please let the Resort know before booking - I'm sure they would have other rooms with better access to the bath / showers.

If breakfast was included in the deal the overall experience would be perfect

Immensely enjoyed the location of the resort, the staff were very accommodating and helpful. Experienced dining for dinner and breakfast, dinner was a bit of a let down but the breakfast options were 5 star. Would definitely stay there next time I visit Port Douglas.

Having recently undergone a $40m renovation recently, the whole resort felt fresh and vibrant, although if you look closely, you can see remnants of the Art Deco decoration in places.

We had been to Port Douglas before and stayed at a place nearer the main town. It can be tempting for convenience sake to stay on the resort for dinner, but my advice would be to take the shuttle into town. You'll get far better value and much better food. For breakfast the resort restaurant was fine.

We found the Sheraton to be a great place for a relaxing holiday. The rooms are beautiful and spacious with a modern design, all of them have views of gardens or pools. Most blocks have their own salt water pool with private access. The buffet breakfast is great, although they don't serve lunch (except at the pool side cafe) and the dinner buffet is not very good value or impressive. There are regular shuttle buses to Port Douglas for $5 per person so you can just head into town for a meal or some shopping. All in all it was a great holiday.

Swimming pools are awesome, staff are even better nothing was ever a problem

we had a fantastic time at the Sheraton mirage , from their service to amenities they have to offer . this is the second time we have visited The Sheraton Mirage and will visit again .

I have stayed at Sheraton Mirage 6 times over the past 20 years and always love going back. That first walk out to the beach never fails to take my breath away. The renovations are beautiful and enhance an already gorgeous resort.

Our family of 4 stayed in a Lagoon Edge Room, direct water access and had a little beach
Perfect for little kids. Beautiful resort only downside I have 2 fussy eaters who struggled with the resorts food options besides hot chips, but there is a coles in town if your happy to make sandwiches etc.

We spent 6 nights at the Sheraton, rooms were spacious and beautifully laid out . 4 people could fit in the shower , was awesome. Food was really good , main restaurant was excellent. Seafood buffet was also worthwhile.....pool was stunning and being able to walk directly onto the beach is a bonus . Only let down was the service ....it was quite obvious that the majority of them are backpackers with very little idea on fine dining or just the basic knowledge on how to serve . Many seem to be quite vague and have very little idea . During our stay we chatted to other people staying there and they all commented on how inadequate the service was and how it definitely wasn't Sheraton style . This was the only let down ....

Rooms are nice but need balconies. Nowhere near enough room to access pools once the sun lounges are taken. Felt as though we were intruding on privacy of families who had reserved the sun lounges.

The upgrade to the whole complex is nearly complete and how well it is all looking well done.
The staff solved any problems mainly trips that i booked from the uk , you may or may not pay a little extra at the hotel but it is well worth it to save any headaches. Next time we will stay longer thankyou all.

Being asked to rate the food in stars was a problem. In house: we did not try the one up market option, not such a good one for a child, however we found the breakfast about 2 star- or less if you take into account the reputation of this place. We have had much better in quite ordinary hotels around the world. The poolside bar mostly offered fried type options- lots of chips nothing at all healthy. Satay sticks or similar might have helped! In the town we found a a range of places well suited to our needs- worthy of top mention being Watergate and Seabean which we would rate five star on all respects.

I would go again anytime. . Even the renovations didn't bother me. Top place to be

Could not fault the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas, had such a fantastic family holiday with my wife and 2.5 year old boy 8 nights in the first week of November 2015. The older room we stayed in was a ground floor garden view in the north wing which we requested and while a little dated was perfect. The pools I still dream about and facilities you really couldn't ask for any better. (unless your a spoilt brat). The staff very very friendly and facilities perfect. I look forward to coming back again and again where we can laze away the day and do nothing else.
My one and only complaint is the food staffs lack of knowledge when it comes to food allergy. My son is anaphylactic regarding egg and my wife is a coeliac. The food menus need to state if foods are gluten free and staff need to be aware if certain dishes contain egg. We brought this up with the duty manager who supposedly got in contact with the food and beverage manager to arrange a meeting with us however no follow up occurred. Other than that I couldn't rate the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas any higher.

Had a great time, beautiful resort and very close to town by shuttle or if you chose to walk, would recommend to anyone.

We were pleasantly surprised as we knew the hotel was beginning refurbishment. Our room was great, the setting is idyllic and the staff could not have been more helpful

It was a special occasion with my family and friends, but the Mirage was an excellent place to have big groups. Choice of pools, generous room size, great breakfast and we were never rushed away at 10.30..the shops in the foyer had bargains, which was surprising.
The staff at reception were great and always very welcoming and helpful. The function held for my 60th was very well planned and beautifully presented.

Amazing pools, dining option limited, room decor old but clean and functional, great balconies over the lagoon pool great for watching kids in pool.

this was our first trip to Queensland, and I am glad that we stayed at the Sheraton Mirage. the hotel was comfortable, the staff gracious and charming. when we booked our tours there Karen was wonderful and went out of her way to make sure we got what we wanted. the pools were wonderful and the weather glorious. would come back again.

The hotel is a little dated, however the friendliness and informative staff is outstanding! The rooms are clean and spacious. The swimming pool is very large, beautiful walkways with gardens. Close to the beach and town is walking distance of 20 minutes, however there is a shuttle bus that runs every 30 minutes into town for a fee of $5.00. Taxis are readily available as well. Port Douglas is a great town with a variety of restaurants and cafes. There is also Cane Toad Racing at the Iron Bar Restaurant...this is definitely entertaining. This hotel is highly recommended.

Although the pools are fantastic they are exceeded by the service (particularly Jai on the cooking station)

The Sheraton suited everybody very well from children (9 & 11), mother and grandparents. Perfect weather did help!

Ideal location right on the beach, a nice leisurely beach walk to the town centre where you will find lots of restaurants, Sunday markets and plenty of reef/rainforest tours to choose from. This is the perfect resort for all ages whether you want to just relax or go adventuring. Will definitely be making a return visit.

We found the Sheraton Mirage an excellent place to stay in Port Douglas. Reasonable price, very friendly and helpful staff. Good atmosphere and facilities. And very easy commute on the local bus into and out of the town center. Highly recommend the Sheraton Mirage for a great stay in Port Douglas.

Really enjoyed my stay here, especially with young children. Will definitely stay here again.

Snorkeling lessons and Art classes with Davyd were a hit with my 8yr old.

Lovely resort but decor needs to be updated. Staff - outstanding , very helpful

Decor may be a little outdated and in need of a little TLC - but the location, service and food were excelletn! We will certainly visit again.
