Iconic Port Douglas Pub Gets Makeover

The main bar at the iconic Court House Hotel in Port Douglas will be closed for the next six weeks and although regular punters may miss their favourite watering hole for the next month and a half, the serious makeover it's receiving promises to make the bar bigger and better than ever. Receiving a complete refurbishment, General Manager of Projects for the Hilrock Hotel Group, Charles Warren promises customers that it will be worth the wait.

As part of the new fit out, the lunch bistro will also close for a couple of days so that demolition work can be carried out on the Wharf Street entrance. The good news for locals and visitors is that upstairs Sunset Bar won't be affected by the renovations, nor will the TAB, live entertainment of beer garden on the Macrossan Street side. However the main bar will be completely gutted to receive a whole new fit out.

As summer temperatures soar, the hot and humid Port Douglas weather generally sees a quieter period in the popular holiday town, making this the ideal period to complete the works. Although the pub expects to be busy for Australia Day, things following the annual celebration of national pride should quieten down. The pub has apologised in advance for any inconvenience the complete refurbishment may cause its customers but assures punters that the new amenities and service area will be well worth the wait.

The revamped area will still retain much of its traditional Queenslander charm but will also enjoy a fresh new aesthetic as well as 12 beers available on tap. Working hard to get the project completed ASAP, the pub expects works to be completed by early March. Excited to unveil its new look to customers, staff have assured patrons it will be business as usual for dinner at the popular pub with dining still available along the Wharf Street side of the establishment.
