Photo Competition Showcases Beauty of Port Douglas

A simple yet stunning shot of Emmagen Creek has been voted best photograph in the recent Show Me Your Paradise consumer campaign from Tourism Port Douglas and Daintree. The modest but magnificent shot was captured by Jodi Noden and it has captured the imagination of judges, who deemed it to be the best image showcasing the striking beauty of Port Douglas and the Daintree region.

In the recent campaign-cum-competition, the tourism body asked participants to show Port Douglas and the Daintree to the world by capturing what it truly means to experience the romance and adventure of the tropics. There were a number of categories giving happy snappers a shot at a quick $250 cash with a cool $1,000 cash up for grabs for the image declared the overall winner.

To enter, budding photographers simply had to submit an image or video into their choice of categories including adventure, romance and family. Sharing with the world what it means to create lasting memories with the whole family, enjoy the experience of a lifetime or kick back with the perfect romantic getaway, the collection of images and short videos will be used as part of the upcoming marketing activities of Tourism Port Douglas and Daintree.

Other winners included a Four Mile Beach sunset photo by Daniel Kiritsis who took out the title in the romance category. Four Mile Beach also featured in the winning shot for the family category, captured by Andrea Moore. Tony Jose walked away a winner twice, with his photo winning both the adventure category and people's choice.

Tourism Port Douglas and Daintree executive officer Tara Bennett said the campaign had been a huge success with over 300 entries and a peak of approximately 10,000 votes and views on social media. With such a high standard of entries Ms Bennett said choosing a winner was difficult and having the public's help in making the decision was a valuable insight.

Tourism Port Douglas and Daintree welcomes you to make your own memories and snap some incredible images of your own with a Port Douglas holiday package.
