Port Douglas Adventure Time

The Cairns Airport Adventure Festival is an annual Ironman challenge and multi-sport event that takes place in June and while many athletes of all ages and skill levels train hard in the lead up to this iconic event, their sights are also firmly set on aftermath of the athletic event. Escaping the start of winter, heading north where temperatures are still in the high 20s is a delight for festival goers and many choose to stay on after the event for some well-deserved rest and relaxation and Port Douglas is the perfect place for recovery.

After an action-packed events calendar, there's nothing like sinking below the surface of the beautiful clear waters of Port Douglas to discover a kaleidoscope of coral and curious turtles. Snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef's Low Isles is not only a world away from reality, it's also the perfect therapy to ease tired and sore muscles. Providing a refreshing break with plenty of natural appeal, this low-rise coastal destination offers a laidback atmosphere yet still offers plenty to see and do if you're feeling up for it.

One of the more popular places to stay in town and indeed one of the Cairns Airport Adventure Festival's preferred accommodation providers is QT Port Douglas. Just an hour from Cairns Airport, the stylish property is nestled in a lush tropical setting just a few kilometres from Macrossan St, the town's main shopping, dining and entertainment hub. Offering a funky retro beach vibe, the resort features vibrant bars and unique dining experiences along with quirky chill out spaces. There's an onsite day spa, lagoon style swimming pool, interactive marketplace style restaurant and chic hotel rooms as well as spacious apartments.

QT Port Douglas is also the perfect spot from which to explore the Great Barrier Reef, Daintree and Mossman Gorge during your downtime.
