Located an hour and a half north of Brisbane, getting to Coolum is easy thanks to its slightly northerly position on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. Situated 120km north of the state's capital city, Coolum is easily accessed via main roads and the two major arterials of the Bruce Highway and Sunshine Motorway.
Getting to Coolum takes around 90 minutes by car from Brisbane, heading north along the Bruce Highway. When you reach Sippy Downs, take the turn off to the Sunshine Motorway and follow it until you get to the Yandina Coolum Road turn off and continue along until it becomes Beach Road, turning left onto David Low Way and following it to the centre of town. Ensure you leave enough travel time to enjoy the scenery and charming coastal towns along the way.
Conveniently located just 10 minutes from Coolum, the Sunshine Coast Airport receives direct flights from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne with a number of airlines. Making getting to Coolum easy for interstate travellers, flights from Sydney to Coolum take an hour and a half while flights from Melbourne to Coolum take approximately 2 and a half hours.
Getting to Coolum by bus or coach is an affordable and easy option if you're without a vehicle of your own or simply want to sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery while someone else takes care of the driving. A number of coach and bus companies offer services along the Bruce Highway stopping at Nambour and connecting to local services to Coolum that take approximately half an hour. In terms of getting around in town, there are a number of local services that operate throughout Coolum and to and from the Sunshine Coast Airport.
Getting to Coolum by train is also possible thanks to regular rail services which operate to Nambour. From here you can catch a number of connecting services into Coolum.
