Sunshine Coast Transport

Getting to, from and around the Sunshine Coast is easy thanks to its popularity as a tourist destination. Approximately one hour by car from Brisbane, Queensland's capital city and Australia's third largest city, the Sunshine Coast is also home to its own local airport. With a great range of Sunshine Coast transport available, it doesn't matter whether you choose to arrive in Brisbane and enjoy the scenic drive up the coast or want to fly directly into the Sunshine Coast. The local airport receives flights from Virgin Australia and Jetstar, with some seasonal services also available from Air New Zealand.

Conveniently located in Marcoola in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, the airport is central to all aspects of the Sunshine Coast. International visitors wishing to visit the Sunshine Coast will have to fly into the international terminal of the Brisbane Airport and can either choose to catch a connecting flight to the Sunshine Coast or hire a car and drive an hour north. However, there are also shuttle services available that offer door-to-door service from the airport to the Sunshine Coast. For a more cost effective option, there are also rail services that depart from the airport and travel to Beerwah, Nambour and Landsborough.

Once you arrive in the Sunshine Coast you will enjoy how easy to navigate it is, particularly if you plan on hiring a car and driving yourself. This is a good idea if you wish to see a number of areas within the region as the area that encompasses the Sunshine Coast is quite large. There are plenty of rental companies available who offer flexibility in exploring in the Sunshine Coast. However, if you prefer to sit back and let someone else do the driving there are plenty of public bus services that can deliver you to a wide range of popular lifestyle spots and tourist attractions.
