Located approximately 2 hours southwest of Melbourne, Lorne is a picturesque coastal town and popular holiday destination on the Great Ocean Road. Of course the region’s natural attractions are a big drawcard including the cascading Erskine Falls, scenic Cumberland River and picturesque views of Loutit Bay, not to mention the spectacular Great Otway National Park.

Getting to Lorne

Located about 2 hours southwest of Melbourne, getting to Lorne is a wonderfully scenic drive along the iconic touring route of the Great Ocean Road. From Melbourne you can take the Princes Highway to Geelong before continuing on to the Great Ocean Road through Torquay and on to Lorne. Alternatively, you can take the Princes Highway to Geelong and continue on to Winchelsea before taking the C151 to Lorne, passing through Deans Marsh. If you’re visiting from further afield and will be arriving at the airport, you can easily and affordably hire a car and make your way along the Great Ocean Road to Lorne. Just take the Western Ring Road south to the Princes Highway towards Geelong. Then connect with the Great Ocean Road and follow it through Torquay all the way to Lorne. There are also a number of public transport options including the Skybus to Southern Cross Station in the city. From Melbourne, V/Line coach and rail services depart Southern Cross Station to Geelong, the Great Ocean Road and Lorne.
